I have a Z tube w/ K&N and my gas mileage has increased. Also, one of our dealers actually offers a fuel additive/cleaner which is called BG 44K. The problem is that you cant buy it in the stores and they have to put it in, but you have to have a full tank of gas as well when you ask for it. I was using it, but I have now switched to another additive that is equal to BG 44k and IS sold in any autoparts stores. Its called Lucas Fuel System Cleaner. I have heard alot of good things about it and my gas mileage has gotten even better. Every time I fill up, I put the cleaner in first and then the gas so it mixes from the bottom up...not from the top down. I have noticed a change and now I fill up every 5-6 days instead of every 4 days. You might wanna give it a shot.

Couple questions... did you reset your ECU after installing the Z tube / K&N combo, and specifically how much MPG gain are you seeing? I've read conflicting posts on whether you need to reset the ECU or not, and likewise I've read people say that they lost 2-3 MPG or gained 2-3 MPG.

No I did not reset my ECU after the install. Originally I was getting around 16.1 mpg and now I am getting 18.5 mpg. w/ the fuel cleaner and mods. I just filled up yesterday

The car actually does a small "aaaah, what-the-aycheeeedoublehockeysticks wazzat" right when you fire it up after putting on the tube and filter. Not sure if you saw, but if it was cool enough, you'd actually have a bit of a "cloud" out back as the system very quickly comes to terms with the new-found provision of air and makes some map adjustments, so it does its own reset to some extent.
That said, I did do a full reset, and found that the car ran better following. I know I'd get better gas mileage (along with longer tire life) if I could just extract my d*!&n foot from the right pedal.

Cheers,
D

I have been driving slower now, and not punching it all. I find I get more gas mileage out of my car now. You might want to slow down a bit, and not punch as often if at all.
