LOL ^ Check around here for the sedan with electronic exhaust cut-outs. There should still be a vid.

And Pearlcoupeg35, +1 on the route you're considering. My rationale is much the same as yours. If the family ever gets past this stomach bug, and I can finally close the book on the bodyshop, I'll be installing:

Drop-in filter, G-tube, MREV, Headers (NISMO), Cats (Crawford), Y-pipe (NISMO) connected to the OEM rear-section w/ a reducer-cone.

So, I'm also considering the UTEC to improve what I figure will be a decrease in driveability after all of these breathing mods. Then again, the nearest shop with a dyno is 4-6 hours away.

FWIW, my ricer math on my parts combo is:

Filter/G-Tube: 5HP/ 2TQ
MREV Plus: 15HP/15TQ
Headers: 8HP/10TQ
Cats: 10HP/ 8TQ
Y-pipe: 7HP/ 5TQ
-------------------------
45HP/40TQ

If i could get close to 50hp gain to the rear wheels with ALLLLL of these mods and a nice tune on the UTEC, then i would be a happy man. Throw in a clutch, flywheel, and new final drive and I THINK my car would be a helllluva good time to drive on the street.

I imagine the total cost would be around $5,000 by the time is all over - but considering i couldnt even buy the parts for a S/C or ST for that - im still ahead of the game.....throw in installation and tuning of a S/C or ST and your looking at around $8,000 or so. Thats a biiiiit too much for me at this point.

The only thing that has me second guessing myself is the loss of low end hp and tq. To me, thats the most fun to have on a street car....so i want to be totally sure that my low end doesnt suffer just to be a Dyno Champ!

Anyone wanna convince me to get a Stillen Stage 2 S/C? LOL

50 Hp gain is going to be difficult to come by I think. The gears and Mrev will give you back some lower end torque. Fact is these engines need to rev in the hgiher rpms to get the power.

Sc is going to give you the power throughout the whole powerband pretty much

please excuse the ignorence , but one of the people at the beginning of this thread did a hp count and it went something like this. aprox 45 gained hp =total hp of 28? i was under the impression the car (depending 02 03 04 )came with at least 280 hp . how come after those mods the hp would not be up around 320-325. just a question pls respond.

okay my friend I will let you off on this one bc you seem to be nice...... they are talking about rear wheel HP not crank HP there is a big diff. Gs come with about 240HP to the rear wheel 280 to the crank and you cant add up the HP for each mod. as stated before so mods work against each other so you dont get the full effect of the mod.

Don't mind Wild...he is just as much as a noob as anyone here. Since he thinks he knows one small fact about our car, he wants to gloat like he knows everything!

On a more serious note, the thought about using Utec or EU has crossed my mind. If there is some good data to back up gains using engine management...I might jump on it.

My current setup and dyno.

Stock (05 6mt Cpe) =Red
Green=Mods: UTEC, Labree Resonated Test Pipes 2.5 inch

The car is much more responsive in every gear and pulls hard throughout the entire rpm.
On a side not, I had originally picked up 12whp from the UTEC alone so it's definitely a good mod in N/A and a great investment if you ever decided to go FI.

So this would be a worthy mod to compliment a FI system? What are we looking at for the Utec and install?

He is showing that the UTEC is a worthy mod WITHOUT f/i......all he has is test pipes and utec and hes at 281...now this might be a bit high of a dyno, but still...i think the point is, a GOOD engine managnemt with the correct bolt-on mods can yield a nice gain in RWHP.

Thanks Beta99

Most tuners will tell you that the UTEC is one of the best tool out there to tune our cars...a good tune is the essence of reliable power.
A few vendor sell the UTEC pm MRC (on this forum) or check out TurboXS for list of authorized dealer/installer in your area.

No problem, how far is Downingtown PA from Gaithersburg MD (TXS dyno tune location)...a road trip might do you some good if you decide to get the UTEC.

Take this into account....cars that are dyno stars....don't always live up to there #'s on the street....(i.e. you can add a mod that gives you more power on the dyno.....and your car will be no quicker....and the converse you can add a mod that give's you no rwhp....but your car will be significantly quicker...smaller diameter tires +lightened fly wheel + good aftermarket clutch...remove spare tire
