Seatbelt tension adjustment

Seatbelt tension adjustment
I know our seatbelt is something that bothers everyone. I have seen people who use belt pads or even extensioners to circumvent the problem. And I think the real problem is not so much the position of the seatbelt (i.e. where it crosses onto your torso), but the TENSION of the seatbelt.
Which makes me wonder, does anyone know if there is a way to adjust the spring tension on the seatbelt retractor itself? I've seen a retractor by itself before and I remember seeing many screws on and around it. I wonder if one of them adjusts the spring rate (belt tension).

Re: Seatbelt tension adjustment
I don't know if I could answer your question, but I could help you out a bit. I bought Infiniti seat belt pads and tried them, but I wasn't very satisfied with them. The seatbelts don't retract all the way and due to the tension of the seatbelt, the pad was putting too much pressure on my chest. I thought about a seat belt extender, but I don't like the way that looks when the seat belt is not connected. My personal solution:
After you put the seatbelt on, pull your shirt up a bit so that the seat belt is sitting on your shirt and not on open skin. If your shirts are too loose around your neck to pull at up all the way, just pull it up as much as you can, it will provide decent comfort. Also, after you have your seatbelt connected, you can move the seat belt connector thingy that you plug the seat belt into (sorry for my poor vocabulary on this one, I just don't know what it's called) forwards and backwards. Manipulate the tension on your neck by adjusting the seat belt connector thing forward or backward until it suits you perfectly. This, in combination with the belt resting on your shirt, makes the seat belt acceptable (in my opinion). Give it a try.

Re: Seatbelt tension adjustment
One other concession to help would be to adjust the height of the seat. I'm 5' 6" and if I keep the seat all the way up the belt is uncomfortable on my shoulder. If I lower it somewhat... it makes a difference. I understand this will not help tall people who keep their seat lower anyway. Also , the seat belt pads and the extender do help for some people. It's a matter of trying everything to see what works the best. Infiniti is not going to redesign the seatbelts for us in the near future! This is for sure.
