Wow, that's a ridiculous amount of work.

Now what would make the '03 and '04 fuel systems different from the '05s? Are they just waiting for an '05 to catch fire or something?

what gets me is that this is a potentially fatal fire hazard and they say "in the coming months you will receive..." if it was that serious u'd think they'd take faster action than that.

I doubt it's serious; i've yet to read 1 report of that actually happening.

It's probably about as hazardous as talking on your cell phone while fueling up. And if you watched myth-busters, you know how serious that is

Maybe we should all just buy a fire extinguisher and keep it in our trunks and call it a day

Besides, in my 68' Chevelle, the gas tank leaks from the vent hole. You can actually see gas drip onto the ground when the tank is over 3/4 full. Never had a problem in 30+ years (knocking on wood)
