hi... i've seen this mentioned somewhere and i've tried searching it on this forum but i cant seem to turn up anything (i dont think the search function on this site likes me very much) ... so anybody who can show me a previous thread or answer , i would be greatly appreciative

i've heard that the 2003-2005 g35 coupe stock exhaust is louder than the 2006? Or perhaps that the 2006 coupe's exhaust has been 'silenced' a little bit in comparison? Is this true or not? My 2006 is arriving within the next few days and this has been on my mind since i first encountered the topic passively a while ago.

i don't think there are changes beyond exterior body parts and some added features inside. No parts should differ from the '05 other than that right?

Maybe slight adjustments made to the exhaust piping for the active steering components? The cause of sound differences? I do not think they would have detuned the exhuast note.

 

supposedly the 03-04 have a louder exhaust note (decibal....measured) than 05+

 

I first reported that 06 models had its exhaust muffled last August base on review of an oversea version of the G35 Coupe. Fortunately US G35 Coupe still retain the sexy exhaust note through 06.

The 03-04 and 05 seem the same to me

 

My 04 is slightly louder than my friend's 05, but it could be due to banging the pipes on speed bumps with full load few too many times.

I honestly think the 03/04 is the loudest than 05+ because i constantly pester my friend about why his 03 is so loud like that and he said its stock hasn't touched it. I wonder if time and hard driving break it in?

Either way, the stock part number for the exhaust is the same, so it's gotta be the motor differences in term of rev up...etc

My 05 sounds like its screaming at 4K rpm + whereas my friends 03 still maintains that sick a$$ growl...
