I got in an accident today, my first.

Hi My name is Jae, I've been in around in this forum for awhile, but never posted.. I own a 2003 Silver G35_Coupe. No mods yet, cause I have no money to spend ( I'm 17 by the way ). Nice to meet you fellow G35 drivers

Anways, today I was on my way to school. I had to make left turn, but I've failed to yield left turn and BAMN! airbag gets deployed. The road across the one I was in was going down hill so I couldn't see it coming, but when i entered the intersection the light turned yellow, and when the " other car " ( a red Pontiac I assume ) entered the intersection I'm sure the light was yellow. Anways, I assume the other driver was speeding pretty much because he/she ( to keep respect ) wanted to get pass the traffic light. When we hit, I saw everything,, pretty scary, my G35 was pushed back sort of ( when I checked my gear after the impact it was at N, so i tried to put on D or M1 to move it out or the way, but the engine was dead... ) I got out of the car, and check the cars out. My passenger front was ruined, it was horrible, I couldn't believe it ( I washed and cleaned my car inside and out yesterday..... ) When I check the red car, the whole front was messed up like my front except everywhere in the front. When we hit in the middle of the intersecting road but after the impact we ended up near where I started. Sigh.. I know the accident is my fault, but I don't believe it was 100% mine, you know what I'm saying? Sigh,, My insurance is probably going to have to pay for everything. It's my frist accident and I never had a speeding ticket with my G, and no criminal records, will this raise my insurance?

Sorry and thank you for reading my blob of words.

One question, will my G35 be okay?

insurance is going to OWN you. literally..

I had an 2005 G35 (pix in sig).. i talked to the insurance agent.. and they said if i had gotten into the same accident and it was my fault i'd probably be refused by many insurance companys. but yeah you'll get hit pretty hard =\ if you have an insurance agent i suggest you have a long chat with him and figure out what you can do to cushion the blow as much as you can.

Pix of your G? sounds like you got hit pretty hard.

btw im 18.. had the G since i was 17.. i was 17 for 8 months out of the 10 that i owned it.

The most important thing is life...and no one lost theirs... so all is good. The car will be replaced by the insurance company.

Yap with your age it doesn't matter if it's your first!!! your only 17 and you don't have enough years of driving to accumulate anything. If you can shell out the money i'll talk to the other person and just pay for everything, but if it's major then you're *****! that's the reason my parents didn't buy me a 30K- 40K car when I was your age, coz there is a bigger chance for rookie mistake. At least you're ok and didn't total the car.

Assuming he ran through a yellow while speeding depending on the judge you should be able to get a 50%/50% fault deal. You have to make sure you keep the pressure on the insurance and the related parties that the individual did not yield and was speeding. If you keep your mouth shut you will get stuck for the whole thing. A lawyer should be able to argue this for you if needed. I had a friend get in the exact same accident and he got a 50/50 fault.

He is actually suppose to yield to you on yellow (not speed up like most people these days). You have a right to clear the intersection on yellow. You can get him on failure to stop to avoid collision. Anyway be more careful making those left turns people like to hit the gas on yellow these days.

Yes your insurance will go way up

That looks pretty bad. There's probably going to be a ton of concealed damage. You'll know after they pull everything apart. Good luck!

Sorry to welcome you under such bad circumstances, Jae, but welcome just the same.
As everyone has said, the most important thing is that nobody was hurt.
I agree with BeoWulf: get a lawyer to argue your case for you. You don't want to get burdened with all the blame.

Sure insurance will go way up, but with good driving over the next years it'll come down again eventually....

Try not to worry too much about things......it'll work out for everyone, and you've got insurance to cover damages.
Whether they total your car or not all depends on the extent of damage. Unless it's really bad, I can't see them totalling it but post pics up when you can and we can guess from there.

G/L, and be thankful that it could have been much worse....

Don't forget that lawyer....

Colin.
