Pay for aero kit install?
Pay for aero kit install?
Forum,
Felt like Christmas was rescheduled today :-(
My G35 was supposed to be in this week, now they say September 8th. Damn.
Anyway, my question is concerning the aero-kit. I asked for the aero-kit w/o the spoiler. This is 600 dollars. My salesperson informed me that the dealer will charge me an additional 400 dollars to put it on. Is this BS!? Did you guys pay a charge to have your aero kits installed? The dealer is Infiniti of Orland Park (Chicago).
Thanks in advance for your replies,
TheShadow

Re: Pay for aero kit install?
You should not have to pay for install if it comes on the sticker of the vehicle. If you choose to add it to a pre-existing vehicle you are supposed to pay for installation, but that is BS the dealer should eat the cost. Tell them you will take your money elsewhere if this is the type of service that they are gonna give you. The dealer I am getting mine from is gonna give me free oil changes with synthetic every 2000 mi with the deal I put together.

Re: Pay for aero kit install?
Hey Shadow,
Those guys at Orland park infiniti are brutal. They wanted to charge my friend $150 bucks to install the XM in his FX35 because it's a hour and a half labor and $400 for the XM kit. My friend ended up buying a kit from Grubbs Infiniti online and we hooked it up in less than half hour! Then I went there to look at a G35 coupe after a salesman told me three times they have my color with navi but when I showed up, it turned out it didn't have navi and he was sorry but he would order one for me the way I want it. I just hopped in my car and left. Total waste of time! I ended up ordering one the next day from Motor Werks in Barrington instead eventhough I live close to downtown Chicago. They reallly take care of you there. If you want my salesman's name, just drop me a PM. Plus you can go check out all the Porsches, BMWs, and Mercedes in the showroom and lot like me when you get your car serviced and hope you win the lotto some day, ha ha.

Hi:
You should NOT have to pay to have any stock add on componets attached to your car. Right after I bought my car, I talked with the Infiniti Sales Manager and he immediately offered to have factory parts put on the car for free, other than the cost of the part!
Do NOT talk to the customer service people about these installs! They will charge you cause some of their mechanics work on commission and must get paid big bucks. But, the dealership probably has a few mechanics that are paid by the hour. The hourly mechanics ususally do this kind of work for the dealership and the install of add on parts costs the dealership not one dime. The Sales Manager can arrange the no additional cost installs. If he won't, don't buy the car there!
Also, keep in mind that after you buy the car, Infiniti Corp will be asking you to rate the dealers sales and service. So, you have about two weeks between picking up the car and completing the customer satisfaction survey during which the Sales Manager is very much interested in keeping you happy.

Re: Pay for aero kit install?
The saga continues...
I decided to call around to the other dealers in the Chicago area and see what they would do for a prospective customer. It was amazing to see how little some of these guys even know about the coupes. One guy insisted they could not even get the parts for the aerokit w/o spoiler option from Infiniti. I told him it was listed as an option on the web site, and he said he knew that, you could order it that way from the factory, but couldn't add it later. Said it wasn't even an Infiniti made part, etc...
Found a guy at Motorwerks in Barrington who talked with his mechanics and said the kit would run me 728 dollars installed. This was like 600 for the kit, 128 for the install, billed at 78 per hour for service.
The kicker was that Motorwerks has the exact car I want due to be delivered in about a month. He said I could reserve it by giving them a REFUNDABLE 1000 dollar deposit. Anything causes me to cancel, I get my money back. ( Did I mention I put 1000 down UNREFUNDABLE at Orland Park?)
Sure wish I'd gone there first, but I went to the one closest to me, which is 2 hours from where I live already...

Hi:
Sounds like the Orlando dealer has you in a box. They know that your $1K is not refundable, so they think that they are in the cat bird seat. I am sure their contract is air tight, especially since their lawyers drew it up.
Probably the best thing that you can do is buy the car and chaulk this up as a learning experience.
When you get the car, remove all delearship adds, like the license plate holder and such. I do that as a mater of pratice on all my cars.

Re: Pay for aero kit install?
Question, is this Aero kit only for the US?? I asked my dealer if they could look to see if there was a code to order the car with Aero and he said it doesn't show up in his books, he said maybe it was only available in the US. I know that I can get the wing from the dealer, but they don't seem to know about the complete Aero kit here in Canada. Can anyone confirm this, and if so , what is the code ???
Thanks
Neil

Re: Pay for aero kit install?
Saga got wierder today. Now my dealer says the aero kit is unavailable until November! Has anyone else heard this?
I guess what they are saying is the kits were put on the first batch of cars, and now they are out and cannot get new stock until around November. I've got a call in to Infiniti customer relations, I'll let you know what I find out....
