But the 19's have 8.5 inch rear rims which are perfect for 265s.

The 2003s and 04s have 8 inch rims all the way around.

Agreed that tire pressure sensors are a real PITA! The dealer wanted 190$ to put mine back on and calibrate them. Forget it. I've done without them for this long and will be fine until the next time I get new tires, at which time I will put them back on when the wheels are accessible. I can deal with the light on the dash.

The manual says that even when you change tires or replace a damaged tire that they should be reset by the delaer. I went to a couple of tire places and no one could reset them.

There is a member on here that is running 245/35/19 and 275/35/19 PS2's on the stock 19" wheels. He has driven 7500 or so on this setup and has not had any problems and said the car drives great. I forget his exact name, hopefully he will chime in.

From the specs on the Infiniti website:

"Wheels and Tires
Split 5-spoke, 8.0 x 19-inch alloy.
225/40 R19 (front) / 245/40 R19 (rear) Y-rated summer performance"

Up to each to choose. I overtired a wheel once about 15 years ago. Biggest waste of money- car was wallowy and imprecise. I may as well have been running 135 wide econo-tires.

"has not had any problems and said the car drives great".

For my money, I'll pick the tire mfg and a company like tirerack, over "a member's" seat of the pants. In the case of the PS2s, the company is responsible for more than half the Formula 1 teams and the space shuttle. I think their engineering and test data is probably better, just a hunch.

From a liability perspective, it's a safe bet that all bets are off if you run tires 30mm wider than the mfg spec for a wheel width. I had one company (Costco) refuse to mount tires that were a single width beyond recommended for my stock truck wheels. There's gotta be a reason for that?

Cheers,
Derek

Derek,

I just measured my 19"s and the rear wheels are 8.5". So the website you referred must have bad data. Here's the correct info. for the 05 6MT Coupe

19” Aluminum-alloy, 5-spoke, polished, FR 8JJ/RR 8.5JJ

Also, it was TireRack.com that recommended the FR 245/35 RR 275/35 combination.

Bites,
You are right, and I am wrong. The info I posted was cut and paste direct from the Infiniti.ca website (also found in the brochure). Who cares that it's 1 am here- I went out and measured my rims in the garage after reading your post. You've made my day . I've wanted to move to a different setup for my next tire order, but felt I was stuck, given the prohibitive burden of buying wheels and tires, not just tires. Now it's off to the Michelin site to see what is possible. Thank you.

Cheers,
Derek
