turning off the 6mt
anyone hear something in the tranny shake when turning off the car?
sounds like a bunch of rocks
only happens if I have the clutch pedal released while turning off the car.
if I have the clutch pedal pressed in, I get no noise.
Is this normal for the clutch or should I get it checked?

Same problem here. You can probably also hear rattling when it is idling with the clutch out (vs pressing it in = no noise). It seems to be a fairly common noise, some say its normal, some have gotten replacement clutches or trannies. I'm taking mine to dealer next week to be sure. If nothing else, at least there will be a record that I think it sounds abnormal at 700 miles, so if it gets worse, they cant blame my driving habits, etc.

whatever it is, it friggen sucks and it seems to be getting looser everyday. At the stop light on my way home from work, I can just hear it chattering as if it were laughing at me.
When I turn off the car it sounds like a POS little 4 banger with bad engine mount bushings.

Re: turning off the 6mt
I've been waiting to see this topic come up. Just over 1200 miles, and have been hearing the noise since day one. I was glad to figure out it wasn't the top half of the engine doing bad things.
With the door open, you can also hear distinct changes in eng/tran noises when actuating the clutch while running in neutral. Pedal out = bad sound on ignition off, Pedal in = normal sounds on ignition off. The description of a rock tumbling around in there is accurate.
On first oil change I will bring it up. Details to come.

My coupe does the exact same thing. It's sounds like rocks are loose inside. I'm at about 8000 miles now and notice the noise louder when I go a longer distance, and the come to a stop in neutral. It definetely does not sound healthy, so I'm probably gonna take by the dealership soon. I'll update when I find out.

Re: turning off the 6mt
Anyone out there had this problem, had it fixed, and can now verify that it was the throw-out bearing? If the fix to the problem is a "new" tranny, then there is really no telling what the problem is. Unless of course a TSB comes out for this, pointing to the bearing.
