Xenons Again...
Hey,
I'm still disappointed with the Xenon lights on our cars. Is it possible for me to just purchase 6000K HID Bulbs off of eBay for around $100 and put them in and they will work?? Who thinks this will help, who thinks this will only make it worse? I know I've brought this up a lot and I am sorry, but I was in my friend's BMW 530i the other night, and his Xenons do such an incredible job of lighting up the road and it pisses me off...

Re: Xenons Again...
changing the bulbs will do nothing except change the colour of your xenon light. the halogen optics, and lack of auto-leveling in the g35 were just a way for nissan to cut costs on this car. it's too bad, because my wife's bmw has bi-xenons which make night driving so easy
nissan should have put projector lenses with bi-xenon technology on this car (like the FX), perhaps it will be a running change by 2005/6

Bimmers use Hella projectors which are one of the best projectors out there and they light up the road cleanly and with a very wide even beam pattern.
Changing your bulbs to 6000K will decrease the lumens a little, they just produce a bluer light.

Re: Xenons Again...
That's exactly what I thought would happen. This is so stupid...the Xenons on this car suck and there is just no winning. Changing to 6000K bulbs only make it worse and nobody sells projector headlights for this car. I feel like the Xenons on our car are so bad, that I NEED to run the fog lights with them. The blue lighting it projects has too many holes and is so blue, it doesn't even light up the road well. I bought aftermarket xenon-imitation fog light bulbs but I am having trouble installing them myself (I am going to have a mechanic do it), but there must be something else I can do...

Man these headlights are not that bad. Ever drive a 96-2001 chrysler minivan. Alot of other cars have bad lights
I actually like them. They light up the road well and at a good distance compared to other cars I have had.
Have a healthy day!

I'm feelling u juiceman. My 95 Golf's headlights wouldn't light the road well even if I switched bulbs. I'm pretty pleased with the headlights. I haven't compared them to bimmer's or MB's but I don't think the difference would be THAT crucial.

Re: Xenons Again...
I know you guys think I am making a big deal, but please understand that most of my driving is done at night. That is why I am really critical of the quality of lighting, and that is why auto-dimming mirrors are important. I am getting my side-view mirrors tinted, but I am not sure what to do about the Xenon headlights. They are decent, but not nearly as good as BMW or MB. I think I am going to get those fog lights installed and see if I am satisfied. Thanks for the links to those Xenon companies, I am going to check them out right now.

Re: Xenons Again...
BMWs and MB got decent xenon projector HID cuz you know y? BCUZ IT'S OPTIONAL!!!(YOU NEED TO THROW ANOTHER 6-700 FOR HID) but g gets standard... don't compare optional vs. standard stock... and i never owned xenon HID and my g is first time i have hid and i absolutely love it!!

Re: Xenons Again...
of course it doesn't serve as an excuse cuz infiniti tried to put everything as standard while maintaining lowest MSRP as possible... i think it's very obvious that throwing extra 600$ on xenon HID will be better than throw for free...MB and BMW are meant to be perfect... think like this... infiniti company tries to throw everything cheapest they can while still make good quality...while MB and BMW put very standard and put almost everything as optional but optional parts worth every penny and better than other companies throw for free... and it should be better since you paid more to get better one... you get what you pay...

Re: Xenons Again...
Yeah, I agree, you get what you pay for. I e-mailed Illusion Lighting and they e-mailed me back saying that they can definitely do it, but they wanted to know where my car is...they want to have my car while they do the work, because my car would be the first car they do. I just have to tell them what "phase" I want for my car for them to tell me the price. Obviously, I want a Bi-Xenon setup, but I just don't know how much it will cost.

Re: Xenons Again...
I think the headlights on the G are just fine. Are they the brightest things out there? No. But they're pretty damned bright. Bright enough that I don't think there's any need to mess with them.
If you can't see well with these headlights, you need to get your eyes checked!

Re: Xenons Again...
It's not a matter of my eyesight, it's a matter of me not being satisfied with the way these xenons illuminate the road. There are several others who agree with me on this. In any case, I'm the one who is disappointed and it is my problem, I just wanted some advice as to what I can do, and you guys have been very helpful and I appreciate it.
Illusion Lighting can custom-fabricate Projector Xenons for me. I am just waiting on some prices before I go ahead and do this whole thing.
