Thumbs down what do you recommend between those engine oil?

hi guys.
I'm visiting here to ask some questions here.
I'm about to chage engine oil within this week. But this is first time to change oil by myself. So I'm confused to choose the right one for my car.
I have 2003 infinity g35c. I'm considering between XLF - XL 5W-30 Synthetic Motor Oil and ASL SAE 5W-30 Synthetic Motor Oil. Can you guy recommend between those please? Secondly, Which oil filter is better between K&N and Amsoil?
please answer me.

thank you~

What fun, first oil change............

Ok, here's what I use when it's time to change oil.
Five quarts of Mobil l synthetic and K&N filter HP1008
That should be good for at least 3000 miles...
When you start to change your oil make sure you
drop that plastic cover, it makes the oil pan and filter
more accesible. LOL You'll love all those bolts!

K&N or Amsoil? You're kidding with this comparison right? The Amsoil is the way to go simple because it's the best right now. They have this new filter technology called Nano filter. It's expensive as hell but it will take 25k miles between replacement. I have the Amsoil oil right now and have driven about 10k on it. It looks the same as the day I put it my engine. I have driven my car at Laguna Seca thinking that will degrade or even change the color after all that hard driving. All I can say is it held up well and it still has the same honey color. In anycase, this is just me giving my .02 cents either oil should do the job nicely but the filter Amsoil all the way. Goodluck.

I've always used Mobile 1 on all my cars and either a Mobile 1 filter or a PureOne.

I second that.

I do the same thing. There have been some very very in depth articles comparing and contrasting the differences oil various manufacturers oil filters. For the price, the Purolator Pure one is easily the best filter for the money. You can get them at any Pep Boys for $6.

The Mobil 1 are great filters too but they cost upwards of $12. The Amsoil filters need to be ordered online, and will cost you a ton when you include shipping.. plus you need to wait for the order to get processed and then await shipping.

Mobil 1 Full Synthetic 5W30 is great oil. I recommend buying it at Wal-Mart in the 5-gallon jugs for about $22. If you were to buy the same oil seperately in 1 quart containers, you'd be spending about $30 for the same 5 quarts.

So go to Pep Boys and get your filter, then go to Wal-Mart and get your Oil.

There are 20 screws that hold the engine undercover on... and some of them also double as screws that hold on this little debris shield beneath the front lip.

you change your oil every 3k miles? bmw says to do an it every 15k miles. I've always done it 6-8k miles and it's always looked clean to me but change it anyways. Is 3k with synthetic really necessary? I'm up to 91k miles on that car and still purrs like a baby.

I do mine every 3400 or so in my car(using full synthetic). It's freakin filthy when I change it too.

I think it's because of my K&N filter letting soo much dirt by. I'm going to be switching to an Amsoil EA-Nanofiber filter though this Spring once I put the car back on the road, and I'll hopefully see my oil being cleaner.

For oil I would go with one of two oils... If you drive hard I'd go with the amsoil AMO (10w40 25k oil) because of the low price compared to the other amsoil oils and it's ability to not get consumed by the vq.

If your driving is not that aggressive and you care more about fuel economy, go with the HDD (5w30 series 3000). It has an aggressive additive package to neutralize oxidation and acidity. It will eventually turn into a a 10w40 weight oil.. this oil is ideal for the vq because its a thick 5w30 / thin 10w40 - so you'll get the best of both worlds.. good oil film thickness over engine components and minimal horsepower/fuel economy losses.

as for oil filter, go with the oversized amsoil filter for the vq. The EAO20
