G got rear ended over the weekend.
During this past weekends flooding rain here in our area the G got rear-ended.
My wife was driving about 60 mph and hit some water that was about 4-6" deep which slowed her down as if she'd slammed the brakes, causing the Camaro behind her (driving too close for those conditions) to smack into her.
I wasn't there so it's hard to estimate how hard the hit was, but it totally smashed the steel bumper beam underneath the bumper cover. Amazingly, the only signs of anything, visually, are the cracked paint and the smashed license plate!! The bumper bounced back amazingly well!! We're getting estimates this week. So far the first one came out to be $2500.
Here's the crazy thing about the incident. The VDC OFF light came on and stayed on. The speedometer stopped working. The CD changer doesn't work. Then the next day, the temp gauge and tachometer stopped working and the Service Engine light started flickering. I first thought all this was due to the jolt from the wreck, but after everything went back to normal after 3 days (except the CD player), I now think the dive into the water must've shot water up somewhere and caused all that havoc. I don't know. I'm going to have some diagnostics run as part of the insurance claim to make sure everything is ok. The CD player, however, I do believe was jacked up due to the wreck itself.
Any input? Anybody by chance have a similar experience??
Thanks.
