2004 Acura TL vs G35 Coupe
those of you that have seen the new TL, what are your thoughts comparing it to the G35C? I know, I know apples to oranges and the pricing for the new TL isn't out yet... personally, I think the new TL is pretty nice but i'm not too crazy about the looks... it reminds me too much of the TSX and the back looks like a Jetta... but the interior is gorgeous. And the technology package they have is great... makes me wish the G had something similar... bluetooth built in would be sweet...
performance wise I don't see it beating the G at all but the tech stuff has got me hooked... if it's the same price, i'm actually thinking about getting it instead...

I like how the tl has built-in capabilities for dvd movies and 6-channel dvd audio. Plus it's got the voice regonition and a solar sensing auto climate controll system.
BUT it's a sedan. Untill they come out with a new CL with some real hp #'s it will not be a competeter to the g35c. And we all know how boring looking some of honda's coupes can be...

Re: 2004 Acura TL vs G35 Coupe
Like most Honda products...it suffers from being "almost" really nice - and then they ruin it somehow. With the TL that front-end looks like it was lifted from some Pontiac and there are just one too many angles on the car to make it look fluid. Angular cuts and stuff make it look clunky and uneven. Interior looks like it'll be nice - gotta touch the material to really know...but if it doesn't come in stick - who cares. Another car that we'll see a lot of out there just because people love their Hondas. Honda should take a page from the boys at Nissan...

Re: 2004 Acura TL vs G35 Coupe
I just looked today at the C&D article about the new 04 TL. It looks awesome .... the interior at least looks phenomenal. Voice activated nav, bluetooth and other tech perks are also premium pluses (IMHO). I also like the exterior, but I don't like the fact that they made it smaller than before. The 6-speed should be very good (I heard the Honda manual transmissions are among the best) and 0-60mph time is 6.0s which is better than the 6.1-6.2s advertised for our G35 sedan. Also it lists 270 HP, 10 more than the 260 HP in the G35 sedan (I'm comparing it to the sedan because the TL is a sedan), however the torque is less than our sedan. The only significant draw-back is the FWD which performance-wise is inferior to our RWD. The TL has been plagued by faulty transmissions even up to the 2003 model and I don't know if they fixed it. All-in-one, I think TL it's a pretty good competitor the our G.

Re: 2004 Acura TL vs G35 Coupe
I don't feel they are in the same class. Looking at the same price for FWD or RWD, RWD always wins. The Seville is not a bad car, but no one puts it in the same class as a Q45, 540, E class or LS430 because it is FWD. It is always at the bottom of the list in any comparisons. The RL has been selling against these competitors very poorly for years because of its FWD drivetrain. The TL is the same way. It will never be a real sports sedan since you don't have control over the back end. It will be a good competitor for the ES300 and I35 though.

Only the Autos have transmission issues, the Honda manuals have been really good....at least in the CL, and I think it is the same thing, I wouls till aviod the AT like the palgue...I made the jump from an 02 TL-S to the 6mt G35c...that said, the TL (tranny, and a few minor issues, brakes etc) was a good car...just not the car for me...maybe in a few years that will change, but I am 22 and the G coupe has the best balance for me...sporty, but still with four seats.

Mani nailed it.. If it had rwd it would be the car to beat with all its features etc..
TL pluses: LOADED, and all included in 34-35k price..
awesome interior/DVD-A, dvd player (in park position), 5.1 dolby surround sound, 8 inch!!!! DVD NAV (Alpine unit).
better fuel economy from 3.2 v6
ulev (for those who care)
Negatives:
fwd, so when driven at the limits u get that torque steer..
A bit low on torque (238)..
