The engine stalled

Boston, 5:15 PM, rush hour and I'm driving home on Storrow drive and suddenly the car stops accelerating. I'm switching the gears, nothing changes. I'm stopping on the right lane feeling real bad. Nobody's honking (thank you guys).
I'm trying to turn the engine off and on again. It turns on but when I hit throttle it stalls again! No luck.
Then I open the hood and pulling the oil dip stick out and back again. Turning the engine on, throttle - good to go! Phew!

What's going on? The both lamps, engine oil and check engine were off. Oh and I changed oil and air filter 2 days ago, have driven about 20 miles after that.
Any ideas?

2004 6MT G35 Coupe, 14000 miles. No modifications.

First I thought it happened because the engine lost the oil pressure. But none of indicators [oil] or [check engine] were on.

In most cases the engine stalls on the highway because people have been screwing around with their air-intake. Since you changed the air filter two days ago this should be the first thing you check out... Assuming this looks OK to you then u have no choice but to bring it in to the dealer and have them hook the computer up to it. Its nothing to do with the oil I'm sure. A vacuum leak would do it...

Thanks Beowulf! That explains it clearly. I'll have the guys check the air filter.
The strangest thing though is that it happened after I have driven 20 miles or so.

air filter shouldn't have such an effect, intake will.

So i would bring it to the dealership have them take a look
