Any opinion on this?

I have a '04 AT and I notice the car does not feel stable when braking in high speed (around 55 mph to 65 mph). Unlike other cars I have, the rear feels like it will break loose at any moment. I know the car will stop, just not sure if it stops pointing the direction I want it. Does any other owner feel the same with the G's braking characteristic?

In addition, I also notice the rear likes to break loose cornering, even with VDC on and relatively low speed (10 mph - 15 mph). That happened to me twice in the last few days. It has shaken my confidence with the car somewhat, and I consider myself an experienced driver (road and track).

Any opinion? Anything I can do to get the car more stable (not sandbag in the trunk trick)?

Something is NOT right here. Mine is ROCK SOLID when I stop or corner. If the folks in the back seat don't wear their belts, then they will be wearing the headrest on their nose! I have never had a car that stops like this one.

Not sure what is going on when braking...possibly your brake bias is not right? Have the dealership check it out?

As far as your tires slipping/squealing when turning (even slowly), check your tire pressures.

Your tire pressures may also be affecting your braking abilities...if your rears are real low, they will cause reduced traction (which could result in both of your symptoms)

I'm also guessin the tires/tire pressure. My coupe is rock solid, even with my snow tires on.

THATS WHAT I POSTED WHEN I BOUGHT MY CAR!
i was asking same question like you did but people told me that G brakes are the best one for its class. (except brembos)
now about a year past, i know what to expect from my G.
i think its just G's braking characteristic.

I have the same car as you ('04 5AT coupe), and braking feels very solid to me both on the street and the track. They fade easily, but that's a different issue. The only time I have an issue with the rear breaking loose unpredictably is when the temperature is less than 40-45 degrees or so and my Pilot Sports don't grip as well.

Are you on OEM pads/rotors, and are you on the original Pilot Sports?

Kind of sounds like the rear tires are not working properly. That or the brake bias is messed up. You said the rear slides around easily when cornering? Maybe one of your tires is worn? Maybe a broken belt on the inside of the tire casing?

Like the others say, mine is rock solid when braking from any speed.

I checked the tread wear and pressure as some of you suggested. They are normal.

I think I will take it in and have someone have a look see. The tires are stock 17". I am really scratching my head. But thanks for all the inputs. I am sure there must be an explanation to it.

Definately get your brakes checked out .... i dont know why ur rear is coming out when ur going 10-15 mph... but i have recently experienced my rear coming out when i take hard corners .... i would be taking the corners at the same speed earlier when i got the car and ... the rear wouldnt come out ...
