Miles per Tank???
Re: Miles per Tank???
I'm getting 250 to the 1/8th left mark. ALL city..
I've been avoiding the interstates all together (except at night or weekends when the rock trucks are parked)

Re: Miles per Tank???
Remember, the data thus far shows that when your E light comes on you probably have 2-3 gallons left in the tank. When I'm on E and the "Miles to empty" displays **** I can still only pump in a little over 16 gallons, and the tank holds 20.

I pretty much get 360 per tank, combined highway and city with air on. Filling around 17 gal each time.

Re: Miles per Tank???
At 1300 miles, my 6MT coupe is averaging 24.5 mpg right now and climbing actually. This is with an increase in hard driving now that breakin has passed. This is a mix of 60/40 : hwy/city driving. Last tank was refilled at about 410 miles and it took 18 something gallons to refill.

Re: Miles per Tank???
I have a 5AT with 4800 mi. and I only get 16-17 mpg.? I compute this based on my mileage divided by gallons at fill up (per the gas pump). This is disappointing considering that my BMW 540 (with a V8) at worst gets 18 mpg!
For people claiming 24 mpg, etc., how are you determining this? It seems odd that people are getting such big variances in MPG, even considering city vs. hwy, etc..

Re: Miles per Tank???
MPG is mostly determined by the length of the trip. All v6 cars (honda, audi, etc.) get 13mpg for the first 8-14 mins. While your temp gauge shows hot, the exhaust and emissions isnt. You dont lean out until after those components are warm. If you have a 15 min drive to work, it will not improve.
Of course there's also the mixes of gas and altitude. But I suspect its the short trip killing your mpg

Re: Miles per Tank???
Driving styles plays a big part, as does location. If you're in Kansas, you're not chugging up hills in a low gear. Yes, you coast down the other side, but this is where the laws of thermodynamics will fail you-- you put in more energy to get up the hill than you will have in potential energy at the top.
465 is a relatively flat interstate in Indianapolis, and I can go around it and get almost 30mph if I play my cars right. This is at 3am, no other cars, etc. I can also go drive on hilly roads conservatively and get much worse mileage. Now, when I change my driving style the mileage varies even more...

Re: Miles per Tank???
I'm confused as well, I am getting 16 MPG if that. yes, I punch it once in a while, but no hills in South Florida. All Flat, mix of HGWY and City! 70/30 or so. Go figure!
