sorry about the confusion??????? you are right if its at a stand still its not the axle. Cats most likely but if it still happens after you are warmed up it could be a variety of different things. If its a new car it is probable the car just settling in; especially if the car hasnt been driven in a while. Just let it play out if it is still happening after a couple of weeks and it gets on your nerves take it to the dealership and make sure you drive with a the person that is going to be working on your car and let him hear it that way there is no confusion over what sound you are talking about. These cars are well known for rattles make sure you get the right one.

My G ticks after driving it for a good 10 minutes. While I'm at a red light and idle, it will tick every 2-3 seconds.. I've never heard ticking noises on a car while it's on.. only when you shut it off (when it tries to cool down) but apparently people on this forum have told me that this is normal.

is this like that nasty smell you have for the first few months... it goes away after a while? Maybe the underbody coating from the ocean prep need to completely burn away. And it is effecting the heating/cooling of the metals underneath? What ever the case, I know it wasn't as bad as in my old '05. I'm chalking it up to the cooling of heated metals for now.

The noise you are hearing is just your pipes cooling off or warming up. Its resident mostly on new exhaust pipes or after a nice run.. I had the same thing when I owned a supped up Civic so I am used to it. And yes its normal..

Yeap usually right after driving some where. If you listen good enough I will do this all the time, its just your pipes expanding and contracting. Usually only happens with exhaust pipes over 2 inches..

What's the difference in the Nismo system that it wouldn't tick (metal heating and cooling)? Better fitment than OEM, better gaskets???

It's the heat shields on the stock exhaust. I think the ones on the Y pipe are the ones that make the noise. I too had that noise unitl i changed to a Greddy exhaust.
