My first dyno - bonestock 2005 g35 6mt coupe

Cheers,
Went to the dyno on Saturday. My G is bone stock 12,100 miles, 93 octane, 72 degrees outside

Pull was in 4th gear with VDC ON (should this have been off?)

Bone Stock 2005 g35 coupe 6mt coupe

Best run 233.69 HP 214.19 TQ

let me know what you think

Is this about right for a stock G? Seems odd that a car claiming 298 HP only makes 233 WHP... 65 HP drivetrain loss? That's over 20%.

It's a little low, but I bet you anything it's because of a dirty air filter. You have 12k miles on it and you said its bone stock. So I'm guessing you haven't changed your filter yet.

Reason why I say this is because I recently took my car in for my dealer's complimentary 15k service and they changed the filter. When I drove it after the service, the car felt like it had a bit more power and the mpg went up a bit. Before the service I averaged 19mpg. (yes I have a heavy foot). Now with the same driving style but with more frequent use of the AC I averaged 20.5 on this tank.

Hey speedgeek, I went and got mine to Sat. Remember, you did this to my post... Well, I got my results as well. I do have a Stillen TD Exhaust and 350z intake tube, but here are my results.

haha..well could be, it is the stock filter and it's hasn't been cleaned or replaced. K&N drop in is getting put in shortly.

Speedgeek,

That seems a bit low...Best run 233.69 HP 214.19 TQ...My 03.5 5AT Sedan dynoed 236.3 RWHP and 229.0 lbs/Trq on it's best run...there was a torque spike to 241, but we thew that out. I looke thorugh my notes from when this forum just started and there was a big shoot out in CA and stock 04 6MT Coupes were dynoing 227-229 RWHP and 216 to 222 lbs/trq. So you seem ok on Torque since you are supposed to be lower by 10 lbs/ft w/the Rev Up Engine, but the BHP/RWHP just isn't there on your car.

Was the other suggestion right on? IE, did you have a filthy air filter? Oh, and VDC should be off, but after initial wheel spin on the drums, if at all, you should not be hindered by the VDC...at least I think that would be the case.

Yeah, my air filter I'm sure is dirty, it hasnt been changed or cleaned in about 12k miles.

This dyno has shown lower #'s for a bunch of cars, so it's consistent, just lower. My bro's RSX ran lower as well as a friend maxima. and other car on different forums that ran there. (hey maybe these are the true #'s and everyone else in off...LOL)

my wideband looks rich, and it looks like the car wasnt run all the way to redline 7k.

But hey, no complaints, this is my baseline, in a year, after some mods I'll bring it back and see what the new #'s are.

Thanks everyone for all the input
