Expensive to Own?

I was thinking the other day about the cost to own a G35 vs. other cars. And, I'm not just talking about the initial purchase price, but more the continual cost of ownership...gas, tires, maintenance, etc. Don't get me wrong, I love my G and would definately buy it again, but it seems to me this is an expensive car to own & maintain. Do you guys agree?? How is it compared to other cars in it's class?

Mines pretty new so I haven't dropped much money on it yet, but I can see how it will be more expensive than other cars, but probably no more than other cars in the same class. The gas mileage isn't great, gotta use premium fuel, the tires are expensive and wear out fast, lot's of money on detailing products to keep it clean and shiny. But I guess you gotta pay to play.

Expensive to Own?

It all depends on how much you think is expensive. Last time someone posted how much is G35C vs income ratio... majority posted pretty good numbers. so i guess it isn't that expensive after all.

I would say it's slightly more costly to maintain than other cars in its class. Especially if you've got the Brembos. Also, performance tires are costly and wear more quickly.

But like others have said, you've got to pay to play, and it definitely is worth it.

Your question is relative to what you are accustomed to. What cars have you owned in the past? For example . . . My G was the less expensive car to purchase and to maintain in the last 20+ years.

You really need to calculate what the expected future maintenace, upkeep, insurance, etc. and initial ownership costs are going to be . . . Then you will see if the G or any other vehicle will fall into your financial scheme of things.

It would be less expensive if you visit this forum less :-)
The more i am on here, the more i know stuff, the more
i spend money on modding .... I never mod my previous cars
until now ... the money i mod my car so far is more expensive
than maintainance cost :-)

I totally agree with Mikesj. Good Point!
Plus the more G in your area the more you want your G looks different ... which maybe make U want to mods further ...

yep, i was the one who started that forum. expensive is a very relative term. it all depends on how much you make and how crazy you are with customizing you car.

Eh, I make enough but I dont go crazy on mods. Planning on saving it for a place of my own someday. But, true, it is expensive and you dont just get one without knowing if u can afford the overall cost.

In my past I've had a '03 Maxima, '99 2Dr Accord, and a '95 5.0 Mustang. So this is really the first car I've owned in this class of car. I'm just thinking along the lines of how expensive gas is now in relation to the gas milage and how quickly the tires wear. Regardless, this is definately the best car I've owned to date.

For me, this is the most expensive car I've owned but not too expensive to keep/maintain. All my previous cars were less expensive, but then I had to spend lots of cash costumizing it to be faster, look and sound better, etc., and then paying extra to fix the things that aftermarket parts messed up (check engine light, never ending wheel vibration).
With this car, I don't have to spend money on rims, I don't have to spend money on exhaust, I don't have to spend money on little ish that doesn't really make the car go faster, so really it all depends. I did buy another set of 18s with winter tires, but those will be sold probably for more money I bought them for, once I move on to bigger, better and faster things.
So to me, this car is great. I did buy taillight overlays to stand out, but that's pennies.
