Bigggg Problem - Help Please

My car has a problem while on my way home today, 2 blocks away from home. In the Manual Mode, I shift from 1-2 (RPM @ 3000-400) the car jerks couple time, then drive fine. I then proceed to shift to third, car jerks again, only lighter, not as harsh, then drive fine. Then I come to the stop sign. The car dies, shows engine check, slip, and VDC OFF. I then turn t completely off, start the car again. It shows: Engine Service Soon, Slips, VDC OFF. This time, I put it back to Auto mode. Car drive very slow , gears doesn't change, but RPM doesn't go high @25mph, only around 2500-3000RPM, so I must stuck somewhere from 3rd-5th gear.

Pulled into the house. Shut down the car. Open the hood, everything seems to be okay. Check fluids, check oils, everything is fine. Start the car again, those 3 lights came on. 1-2 min later, car automatically shuts off.

Can someones please tell me what's wrong? I'm affraid to drive it to the dealer since they're far away. Probably will tow it there.

Thanks a lot.

Sounds like a MAF failure which caused your car to go into safe mode. Do a search on this, there's been a lot of discussion about this and would seem to be a fairly common problem.

I just tried the easy resetting method - The gas pedal & Timing one. This time, when the car starts, no more Slip & VDC OFF light. However, the "Check Engine Soon" is still on and my car shuts off right after???

okay guys, I used the old method and reset it over night (batter terminal). Everything is okay now. Car starts out normal, then idle fine, no shut offs. I have yet to drive it.

So what's with the MAF Failure thing. I searched but couldn't find anything extensive about it?

Apparently the MAF sensor on the cold air intake tube can give trouble.

Did you put in a recently oiled K&N or a new CAI altogether?

just call up roadside assistance and they'll tow your car and get you into a loaner

You really should stop doing the reset and have it towed to the dealer so they can see exactly what is going on. But there have been many threads regarding this problem. I believe you need a new control unit. I think there is even a tsb on it.

Thank you guys,

It happened again after a short drive this afternoon. I called the Infiniti Towing Service and they brought to Infiniti South Atlanta.

The service guy told me that it's because of the Cam Position Sensor. They fixed it and I got it back. It's all good now. They even scheduled me for the Fuel Hose recall & Couple other misc. warranty issues that I told them.

However, I noticed something. Shifting from 1-2 is lil bit harder than before. However, 2-3-4-5 are smoother than before. The response is very much different. May be it's because I reset the ECU and now it's trying to learn my driving from the beginning?

Thanks again,
