Question for the ladies
Quit complaining: you've got a smart girl and a sweet car! Mod AFTER you've bought the house and can see what kind of disposable income you have, once you've bought new furniture and done appropriate HOUSE upgrades and repairs.

+1 to buying the house
HOWEVER.... bribing is always the way to go
But if all else fails, try reasoning
She sounds like a smart woman. Figure out about how much you're going to want to spend on the house, and furniture etc. Look at what you got, and what you want to save for it. Have that taken out of your income automatically and put wherever you're saving. However, put a small amount each month into something like an ING acct. That is your "mod money".
With the automatic withdrawal/deposits for the house, she can rest assured you're saving, and you can even show her numbers about what you'll be able to afford housewise. Since the mod money is only a small amount each month, it doesn't really affect your finances too much, and it's gaining interest, till you decide what part you're going to get. Plus, once she gets used to the idea, you've got it ingrained to always have a mod fund
