Question Talk me into it. please.

OK fellow G fanatics it's time that I get rid of this cash burning a hole in my pocket. Shhhhhh.... don't tell the wife.

Time to start modding the G, what with it just turning 1500 miles and almost 3 months old. I have to start either at the top, or at the bottom.

Top would mean an intake, already have the K&N plate filter so I could go for the Stillen box and stick with that because I really don't want to do away with the ram-air system. It's the intake that I can't decide on. Basically there are two players, Motordyne (and similar units, but the Motordyne would be my choice) and the really trick looking Kinetix SSV.

I know that most people go for the Motordyne as it's a stealthy little bugger, and has real world gains across the band. That being said, I'd need the MREV+ @ $446.00 and I'd go ahead and do the 5/16" (or maybe the 1/2") thermal spacer package @ $290.00 (don't need the copper one as it's not cold enough here to justify it). That would throw me up to $736.00 plus shipping. Figure I can do the install though so I'm not adding labor.

This brings us to the bad boy Kinetix SSV. Now I know it list's for $819.99 but I can get one for a LOT less. Easily $200+ less than the above package. Heck, that leaves me enough to buy the Stillen box and break even with the MREV package.

See my dilemma?!?! OK, now it's your turn. I need help here guys. On one hand I have a package that is proven to work and for all practical reasons would be a stealth install. Not just to people looking at 'what's under the hood', but to the wife as well. On the other hand.... there is this FINE looking SSV that by all rights should put out as much HP across the band, isn't stealth by any stretch, and looks as bling as it gets. Forget the wife at this point, it looks so nice she'd just deal with it. Besides, she doesn't open the hood anyway's and I only let her drive it to work maybe once a month.

So... come on guys... let's get serious. What are the pros and cons of both installs? And if it helps... I have no intentions of going FI at all. (That's at least for a couple of years until the new 08 coupe comes out and I decide whether or not I'll keep this one or step up to that one.)

These are not of course the only mods that are going on the car, just what I'm thinking about NOW. (And I do mean now as that price on the SSV won't be there long.) On the bottom will at least be a full dual system, Stillen & AP are at the top of my list, plus of course new cats, and why not headers while we're down there. Next would be either Hotchkis or Eibach springs and sways.

For now though, let's talk intakes.

Not real sure which way to go on the MREV and SSV intakes, I would go MREV because I like the stealthy mods. I recommend the stillen box tho, I just had the stillen CAI/Intake tube put in my car and I really like how it looks and fits nicely like stock.

I wouldn't give it a second thought . . . Go with the Motordyne product. You will not regret it.

As for intakes, there are quite a few to choose from. After messing around with different set-ups, I have finally settled on the Still HFAB. I think it works quite well with my MREV+ set-up.

I'm sorta in your situation, too. Have been thinking of mods and decided I'll wait and see what the next gen looks like. If I have to have it I'll trade up. If the new one isn't that much better to justify trading, I'll throw a turbo or SC on mine.
