Cool 6speed AT

Does anyone think it would be possible to have a 6 speed at transmission built for the g35 coupe with the tiptronic, or has anyone ever heard of this? If so how much would it cost?

It's possible. Lexus have theirs. Benz even had 7 speed AT on their higher models, why not Infiniti? Just the matter of time

well i have a 2003 at now and i was thinking if you could have the 6 speed auto built it would smoke the 6speed manual just cause you wouldnt have the delay of shifting....whats your input on that?

why would you want to do that? It'll be a big waste of $$. Should've gotten the 6MT when you bought the car right?

Right now, just beeffing up your tranny, VB, TC upgrade should be nicely.

One day, when we grow old, our grand kids will running home to us, saying that" look grandpa, I bought the new Infinitron, it has 100 tunable Automatic Tranny. I can hit it run it 1 Gear all the way, 20 gears shifts, or 100 gears shifts. I can program it to how many gears I want on my car.

We'd be like: screw that ****, why didn't they have it when we were young

well it wouldnt be a huge waste of money because you would be abel to beat a 6 mt just because the computer is faster than anyone can shift so if you had a 6at i think it would add some serious high end power

woot lol .... NO. I can shift MT faster than the AT thats in the G, I know I had an 03 AT, plus you have more drivetrain loss with the auto.

blahahahahaha.

wtf are u guys thinking?? why would u wanna take the time to change a 5AT to a 6AT?? Sure, infiniti could do it if they wanted to, but why spend the money and eff up your ride? And hell no it wouldn't be faster than a 6MT. Not only do autos shift slower, but you lose more power to the wheels than with a manual. You guys must be thinking of the SMG-type of transmission- which is actually a manual transmission that can shift automatically, and faster than a traditional manual. Tiptronics shift slow.

no way if you look at pro stock race cars 90% of them use auto transmisions the reason being you never can shift faster than a computer if you put a 6mt and a 6AT (of the same car) next to each other and as long as the 6at had tiptronic it would be faster without question. You would never have the delay of a clutch

Dude stop making a fool out of yourself, tiptronic is just a manual mode to shift an automatic transmission (regular plain old slushbox), dont you feel the delay when you up/down shift ? it takes the auto trans forever to shift. Now SMG or similar is a different story.
