Clear Plastic Covering

There was a clear plastic covering (looked like a protective covering) on the underside of the front bumper, and on the front side of each rear wheel well. Was the dealer supposed to take these off...? I took the one off on the front when I got the car 2 months ago...but for some reason, I just notices the ones on the front side of the rear wheel well today. Does anyone know what I'm talking about...? They come off semi-easily...but it never occured to me to take the ones off the rear wheel wells. Advice ? Help ? Kick to the groin ?

Re: Clear Plastic Covering

Same stuff as clear bra. There to protect from rock ships, don't remove them.

Re: Clear Plastic Covering

Just take it off, they forgot to take the plastic off, there not really supposed to be there. It has nothing to do with the same thing as the clear bra.

Re: Clear Plastic Covering

I think you are talking about 2 different things...

The Front Plastic is a thin covering plastic that protects the front while in transit, The same thing is on top of the Silver kick plates in the door sills (bet you didnt notice those yet). Just pull all that off, they hadn't yet when I took delivery but I noticed it and they just removed the front. I found out later about the sills.

The 2 on the tire seem to be of a harder plastic, although still clear. When @ the meet last week in Irivine only 1 of the coupes had these removed. I don't think those are supposed to be removed at prep, although it seems some dealers are.

I agree with Theory leave them on, they protect the paint, but they are also hard to keep clean on the white.

Re: Clear Plastic Covering

The one on the front you can remove. The ones by the rear wheel are definetly suppose to be left on. Many cars have it there, you shouldn't remove those pieces.

I thought he was talking about the thin film on the bumper.

Re: Clear Plastic Covering

The ones behind the wheels were put there by Infiniti after they found that the prototype was prone to get chips there from the tires thowing up gravel. So instead of designing a proper, integrated, seemless way of preventing this from happening. They went the cheap route.

Re: Clear Plastic Covering

They were not put there as a cheap fix. Almost all cars have that clear shield there. That area is prone to rock chips on all cars.

Re: Clear Plastic Covering

Thanks for all the input guys. Yeah...I took the one off the bottom of the front bumper because it wasn't put on smooth, and had large wrinkles, which annoyed me...I guess I'll leave the ones by the wheel well on unless they become noticably discolored or something. Thanks again.
