Does anyone know why Infiniti recommends regular oil in the owner's manual?

You change it yourself or buy the oil and pay for the labor? If you change it yourself, I am impressed. But then again, you did buy a sweet looking ride, make some minor mods to it, and join a kick-a$$ forum to converse with all us other G owners. So why not change your own oil. It would fit.

Because it is not *Required* for the car to run properly therefore they can only reccomend/suggest using it.

I also go to Walmart and get the $20 Container. The dealership will discount your oil change because you have brought your own oil. I have yet to pay any labor for any oil change I have had since purchase. I just have a good relationship with service. Besides, I go 7,500 between oil changes. Go for Synthetic. It's worth it.

You don't really benefit using synthetic oil in this car unless some major HP increases. But if you have the cash to burn, go ahead.

Simple. Because they designed the engine to operate with regular oil. There's nothing wrong with using synthetic, but to me and my experience with owning 5 cars, regular oil changed regularly will make your car last well over 120,000 miles with no problem (my 1998 toyota camry is at 189,000 miles currently!). I've used nothing but regular oil in my 2005 350Z and changed it every 3000 miles and it ran fine. I've heard from other VQ owners about oil burning and smoke after switching to synthetic. Not everyone but a few. Unless I'm running a higher HP application or Forced Induction, regular oil is perfect for everyday use. My 2004 G35 will get nothing but regular oil (a good quality oil brand) every 3000 miles. Just my 2 cents.

I'd say too late. Max at 30k. It won't benefit your engine...
Overall this is the first thing you should do...I did it at 500m

Yup, that's what the mechanic said too. He actually said that it would cause more harm to switch over to synthetic when the motor is used to dino oil. He actually suggested a 'Blend' dino oil instead.
