retarded question- what is DINO oil? Dino-saur oil or something?

+1 for synthetic oil = no sludge build-up , your engine will be clean if you ever open up the engine.

Another thing is that is it just me or does synthetic make the engine louder? Not as quiet as regular oil(when I first bought it home).

hey guys, i want to do my own oil change but are there any local places (kragen, autozone, or pepboys) that sell that drain plug washer? my friend told me it's pretty necessary to replace as the "crushed" washer gives that seal. any leads on if we can get this part locally or we gotta buy online? thx fellas =) and fellattes.

When I changed mine, it was just an ordinary copper washer that you get get it at your local parts store. I've seen crushed washer's used for transmission drain bolts more often as they dont come off as often.

[QUOTE=domenic]Simple. Because they designed the engine to operate with regular oil. There's nothing wrong with using synthetic, but to me and my experience with owning 5 cars, regular oil changed regularly will make your car last well over 120,000 miles with no problem (my 1998 toyota camry is at 189,000 miles currently!).QUOTE]

Um... I certainly wouldn't attribute the fact that you used regular oil to your car lasting that many miles. the only benefit to synthetic is that it doesn't break down as quickly as natural oil. Therefore you can go longer between oil changes. After my maxima came into my possesion in 00 at 150k I've only used synthetic and the car is currently at 295k. VQs are extremely well built engines, just make sure you change your oil every 3000 miles for natural and 5000 miles for synthetic and you shouldn't have any worries.
