Racing is many things.. There are diffrent types also.. Straight line, street racing, track racing, off road racing.. Now each of the is diffrent.. Street racing is the one that people get confused on.. As long as you and the other driver know its a race and start at the same time its a race..

Off road- I wouldnt even try it we would get killed

Race Track - we would get beat but barly.. They handle a lil better and I know this cause i saw a video of both cars..

Straight line - drivers race completely.. At the 1/4 i must say im kinda disapointed with the proformance of the WRX and the new EVO.. Best iv seen 13.9 from EVO and 14.2 with wrx.. ( Never seen a STI run thoo)

Street race - from a light same as 1/4 drivers race from a roll the WRX is dead...

Hope this makes things a lil more clear and why are you posting on here fighting over our g35 when you drive a sabb?? Its not a shoe box thats volvo but its a car I wouldnt be cought dead in either...

Well I like this. It's very entertaining. I would rather hear people who have an opinon and are passionate about their cars than just a bunch of numbers thrown out there. The only racing I'm going to be doing is from streetlight to streetlight when I'm in the mood. I doubt I will ever take my car to the track and since my wife has to drive my car too I'm unfortunately going to have to get an automatic since she can't drive stick. I just want my G to make good showing on the streets and not get blown away by every modded car out there.

That shoebox line is killing me though :-P

To everyone: If you wanted a race car, you bought the wrong car. These vehicles are not the fastest available, even at the price. If you wanted a four seat race car for $35K, you still bought the wrong car. These vehicles are good daily-driven vehicles with excellent styling, nice options and frills, a good weight ratio, good handling and decent power. 280 is NOT alot of power. There are plenty of other options for roughly $35K that will get you going alot faster, and in some cases get you better handling as well. 12 sec for a STOCK vehicle is fast, 13, 14, or 15 sec is not. Not trying to flame, just trying to be realistic. I don't understand why some people bought these cars if all they want to do is race.

well said,i have 300zxtt for many years and put so much money into it and it much faster than my G6mt, but the engine was gone so ihave to sale it i still miss it and i like nissan, that Y the G come in. 2ds/rwd/v6/ and the same amout of money i ' h paid for my z 10 years ago , in about time

 

Can you name some of these cars so I can compare? I haven't seen too many cars that have the horsepower, styling, and luxury brand behind it. But I am open to hearing about any new cars that are comparable..........

 

ok... WRX... i was neck to neck w/ it w/ my MOM's HONDA ODYSSEY! (3.5L V6 240 hp VTEC) the WRX was manual, i could see him shifting... trying to beat a mini van... haha it was just too funni... next stop... i was looking down at him, he wouldnt look at me... so there you go!

I agree Sabbs are MAD ugly!!! Ok who ever thinks they can get a car thats BRAND NEW that is faster and going to run in the 12's let me know.. Ill sell my car tomarrow... A car that is BONE stock with a V6 and pushing between 14.0- 14.4 1/4 miles (some freaks will hit 13.9) and are calling that slow espically for 35k??? If we are talking USED cars then that is not fair to the G35.. of course you can get supra, rx7, 300zx and woop up on the g35/350z but come on they are 5-10 years old and need lot of money and care to run and keep up with.. My all time favorite car is the Supra. If you look on the boards they are going for 30k and up.. And they were 95's!!! On this thread there was a nice list of cars to compare to and you are going to say we bought the wrong car for the money?? ......umm ok I just had a thought there is one car out there... the Cobra.... It would wipe the streets with us.. but then again it is already SCed!!!!

It's not is the same class the G35 for luxury or handling, but it will flat kill it in acceleration bone stock.

Yea, those S/C Cobras are really fast and half of them probably have upgraded to a smaller pulley, ECU, and exhaust making them 470+ HP.

 

u r right if i wanted a fast car i'll get a mustang s/c cobras. but i like my G , i think it look better.400+h/p hummmmmmm that ' s sweet.

 

OK, I had to check out the WRX thing for myself. The poor guy in the WRX was doing everything he could and my G35-6MT toasted him in no time. BTW this was a simple let's see who can get to the speed limit first. No animals were harmed for this simple test of HP VS light weight...
