G35 switching gearbox from Drive to Park while driving!

Last Night I was driving on the road and my gf wanted to do steptronic thing, instead of changing the gear up, she changed it to Parking (still can't understand how she did it) my gauge immediately showed VDC is off and Break sign was illuminated but the car was not even breaking, only engine made strange noise , I parked, switched the car off and then on, VDC off sign disappeared so as break sign. Everything seems to be functioning fine...

I thought that if you change gearbox from D to P or R while driving, gearbox will break, well that’s what they say on car manual instructions but Infiniti seem to have installed some kind of safety feature incase things like that would happen

Has anyone experienced anything like that?

Did you hear a popcorn type sound? That's your transmission getting ****ted on. But seriously, I think it will take more than that to ruin your transmission.

you shouldn't be able to switch it into park while driving...................besides, even if you tapped it up, she would have had to gone through N and R and THEN P.

Something isn't adding up here.....plus this is an interesting first post....anybody else smell troll?

Seriously. Someone should see if the safety mechanism is present in all the G35s. Someone please go from D to P and give us the details.

lovely... you know, about 10 years ago, i was dating this crazy chick... i was driving down the street (i had a 89 nissan sentra with automatic)... and she took and switched it from D to R. b.tch put it in reverse at 40mph!!! 4 months later i needed a new transmission. not sure if it was that, or the fact that all the tranny oil drained from it somehow and it siezed.

Something like this happen to me too with an old toyota avalon. My gf put the car from D to R at around 25 mph scared the **** out of me. Luckily the car still is still doing fine now.

Similar thing happened to me a long time ago. Was coasting to a stop in my old Toyota and I meant to just tap the shifter into N. But I guess my thumb was slightly on the button and it went to R. The car jolted and stalled out. Not that I'm proud about stalling an auto, but it can be done. =\

i stalled my old mitsubishi galant by doing the opposite. i was backing out of my driveway and i guess i put it into D a little to quick before the car stopped and it just stalled.

Dont you have to have the brake on to go from D to R or P? Or is that only to get out of park?
