Red face my auto coupe is staling lol ah!

hey guys

i have a 2004 automatic coupe with an injen rd1990 cold air intake.

i had the intake for a while and no problems. today i got off the highway and as i was slowing down my car stalled and the oil and check engine light came on.. i restarted my car and it was fine

then i read the forums and heard it happening on many ppls car with intakes when they go in neutral. so i went on a empty road.....ripped the car... it was fine..... then i was driving and i put it into neutral a few times and the final time BAM..same problem my engine died

this all happend right after i filled up my tank from almost empty. do you think its bad fuel or is it my intake? can i have possibly installed my intake wrong? keep in mined i have an auto.

I know this problem has happend to people however do u think it will be often in my car or will it go away?

the solution I believe is to put a shield around the CAI... forgot the actual logic behind that but it had something to do with... too much air? haha.

doubt the heat shield will help
all that does is avoid direct air from hiiting my filter

my may concern is if this will happen oftern

it may have something to do with the air sensors i have heard of it happening on cars that have after market air intakes i have a injen and have never had a problem *knock on wood* but try disconecting the sensor hook up and turning the key over just before the car turns all the way on then turn it off plug it back in then turn it all the way on.....if that doesnt work dealership..

Any of the same problems with the 05' AT? I have thought about go CAI soon. If the car stalled on me its ok but, my wife woudl freak out since she won't know anything about cars.

i dont have an intake - but i remember reading that its only with CAI's that are down near the bumper. Direct air is forced in-through the filter at higher speeds and it stalls the engine for some reason, that is why putting a shield around it prevents this - it blocks the air from being forced into the filter

imo, intakes dont do **** - all an intake is is a tube coming fromt he engine allowing it to suck air in. THATS IT

now with this being said, fine....run the tube down to the ground and grab cold air, ok....fine.... a fragment of a HP gained?...

anyways - i have a stock intake and if i ever get a new one ill look into a Z-Tube with a pop charger. Im sure if you put a heatshield around the filter its not gonna screw up your performance

no they wont it has nothing to do with the CAI............i have CAI and the dealership didnt say **** to me and if they did they would have to explain how the problem is directly caused by the CAI

i suggest putting a heatshield over it - look up the intake threads, this has happened to many people with CAI's
