6MT Transmission Grind

two days ago my G started grinding while going into 3rd gear. To prevent this i have to let the motor wind down to under 2K to prevent the grind.

I have an appt at the dealer on thurs but i'm worried. It's still under warantee but how could this be? I only have 30k on the car. No mods.

I did search the forum and found some similar issues but they all seemed to be in 5th gear. i'm guessing sync issues.

Has there been a recall?

no recall's but I had this issue in 5th gear, they couldn't reproduce it but they checked it out anyways. Replaced my tranny, clutch and flywheel all under warranty, not a penny paid by me!

update on my trans. The dealer says that the flywheel and bearing would be my responsibility. wtf? Have there been any other folks that have had the flywheel replaced because of this?

i agree that it would be the synchros. had a tt 300z with the same problem. don't let the dealer tell you anything else is the problem. i replaced a clutch at the dealership at my own expense at 30 k miles and ended up being the synchros. did not get a refund for the clutch job.

6MT Grind Update

The Dealer replaced my clutch and trans. They said the flywheel looked good. All replaced at not expense to me. I'm getting the extended warranty.

I would talk to a lawyer and see if they can do something for you under the lemon law....if it applies to your state to see if they can replace your car papagz. let us know what happens

Wow, looks like your car was made on a Monday after a good party over the weekend. That guys that put your car together were still hung over. Sorry to here that.

I had my tranny replaced at around 38,000 and I already had an aftermarket flywheel (JWT) and had them install a Nismo clutch while they were at it. That's the only way I can see having to pay for a replacement clutch and flywheel. If you have to pay for it,,,,,, upgrade.

Later,

Ray
