f#$% up bad

Well I decided to changed my oil today for the second time on my G using the ramps. This time I thought I didn't need help driving up the ramp. Boy was a wrong. I drove up the ramp, felt the first bump and I thought I got it on the ramp but all of a sudden the G dropped. CLUNK! I sat in my car for about a minute with my head on the steering wheel. The black part that is perpendicular to the front jacking points landed on the ramp. I don't know what this piece does, but my car drives fine. I noticed that the area were I hit is a little bent, but I'm not sure if it was like that before since I landed on the black piece on both sides. You can see on the pics a little bit of yellow paint from the ramp is were I hit. What did I mess up?

The noticable bend on the drivers side. The passenger side looks the same. Is this what it suppose to look like?

Re: f#$% up bad

Here's an observation, if the G was really lowered, this part would probably be the first one to be hit on bumps. Don't know if this is true, but I'm trying to make myself feel better.

Looks like you landed on the cradle that the suspension bolts to. Probably OK as that looks like tough stuff! There was a lot of worse things you could have landed on.

I don't use ramps anymore after having a similar event in my BMW a few years ago. Floor jack and jack stands are the way to go.

Is your car pulling left or right? It looks like the lower A was the one that got hit. I can't make it out I have to chk my car later and see what it is that you hit. If it's driving fine then it should be ok. Try checking the nut's and bolts (if any) just to make sure nothing is loose or out of wack.

I haven't driven on the freeway yet, but on the street it drives straight.

I had to jack up the rear jacking point until the front part raises, then removed the ramps. The ramps are toasted.

Re: f#$% up bad

yeah, which ramps and were you using the extension kit for them?

I bought the yellow steel ramps with extensions, but haven't used em yet.

The yellow ramps from Griots garage. I think they sell the same ramps at autozone, but without the extension kit.

I wish I could use a jack on this car, but it's impossible to jack up the area and place jack stands under the car. You only have one jack point and where would you put the jack stands? I could use 2 jacks on each side, but would you crawl under a car without jack stands?

I drove it on the freeway and it drives fine. No pulling left or right. I was wondering if someone could check if that area is bent like mine.

Re: f#$% up bad

I will check it when I get home. One more thing I forgot to tell you did you feel any vibration or rattles on the car when you drove on the fwy (just a thought)?
