I will check it when I get home. One more thing I forgot to tell you did you feel any vibration or rattles on the car when you drove on the fwy (just a thought)?

No vibrations or rattles, the car drives like it did before the incident

redwillow
little unclear on how you overshot the ramps..
did you just not stop soon enough or did you not reallize your front wheels were allready in the well and kept going??

I thought my wheels were on the ramp, but when I released the brake (I have a 6mt) the car rolled foward and it went over. I must have overshot one or both of the ramps. You really need to have someone watch you go up these things, because it's so hard to tell where to stop.

Re: f#$% up bad

ahh, well sounds like the car is fine, so no harm done. I'll try to get a picture of that thing for comparison, if i get a chance.

Get the aligment checked and make sure no boots or bushings look torn. Otherwise you should be fine.

Re: f#$% up bad

I know what happened.. you rolled on one and pushed the other. I did that too but heard it and backed down and aligned them again. FWD cars dont do that, which is what I was used to.

Re: f#$% up bad

Well I went to stillen today to pick up my intake and came across a sweet BS coupe with Gold Volk GTC (yes gold!) and they look so sweet on this car. His looks a little bent as well, I guess I'm alright.

Re: f#$% up bad

if you want ramps then i recommend Rino ramps that are grey and look like they are plastic NOT STEAL. A buddy of mine has them, used them to install my borla system.

Re: f#$% up bad

I bought a pair, but couldn't clear the front ramp. That's why I got the yellow steel ones with the extension kit.

Re: f#$% up bad

The part that you hit was the lower control arm. Seems ok and it's pretty strudy. Just as long as you don't feel any vibrations or it doesn't pull I'm sure it's fine. No reason it should've torn any boots but just crawl underneath and look around. I know this isn't funny if it happens to you but I would've paid $10 to see the expression on your face...(Doh!)lol. Hope all is well!

Re: f#$% up bad

take your front tires up to 40 psi and you should clear the rhinos, but its still really close.

Re: f#$% up bad

You must not have the splash guards. If you did, my guess is that you would have really f#$% them up bad. That's my worry about using my ramps. I drove over them twice with my previous car and am not about to take a chance with the G. My previous car was front-wheel drive and it had a tendency to shoot the ramps backward instead of pulling the car forward and up. Both times the tires were a little wet. Still, I always wondered if I was all the way up or just about to go over the edge. Very scary without a spotter.

This would be the way to do it if you can find a low enough profile floor jack for the front central jack point.

Does anyone know where to find a floor jack that fits there?

Re: f#$% up bad

Yeah I was wondering what jack can fit under a G were the central jacking point is. I'll be lowering this car a little more as well and the only jack I have is the one I bought for my lifted Jeep Cherokee.

Re: f#$% up bad

Well, this may help some people who are a little more "motivated" to do their own oil changes. You can make your own ramps, according to your specs, which are MUCH safer, sturdier, and even wider than Rhino Ramps.

Here is an EXAMPLE of how you can make ramps:

http://www.mustangworld.com/ourpics/News/mwramps/

Now, you dont have to follow these exactly, you can of course make them to your own specs.... And my suggestion would be to use 2x11's instead of 2x10's. Wider ramps are better in my opinion, less chances for a scewup...

My father actually made a set of ramps for a while back (total cost was only 40 bucks in supplies, and some elbow grease). We dont have them anymore, otherwise I would have taken pics, but they were really good. Not only did they incline up, they also inclined down (sort of like putting two ramps opposite one another, get the idea?) . There was no way of over-shooting the ramp, and the car falling down. They were quite long though, and I dont know if some of you have the storage area for ramps that are that long... But for those who do, it may be a worthwhile weekend project to build your own "super ramps"...hehe. I know I will do this once I get my car. Its just so much less headache.

Anyways, hope this helps... hey it may even motivate some of you to do your own oil changes.
