A Georgetown University law student who was trying to impress his girlfriend admitted yesterday that he cranked up his new Infiniti to 126 mph on the George Washington Memorial Parkway -- among the highest speeds ever clocked on the stretch of federal road.

wow i would be too scared to drive that fast on a public road even if it was empty.

 

I have been on that parkway many times early in the morning...and yes, it is very tempting to go FAST!

 

Wow....I went 125 in my old 96 prelude before.
Back then I was 17 and stupid.....I would NEVER do that again....

 

Commuting ~100 miles a day, I've always drove fast.

My daily average speed is 120-130. Cops saw me before, but don't pull me over.

.....of course, that was on the German Autobahn outside of Munich. And driving a Ford Focus, mind you!

 

I was pulled over going 115 in my VW before... I've never actually gotten a real speeding ticket with the G (knock on wood) Like I was never actually trying to speed when I've been pulled over. Like one of those roads that shouldn't be 35 limit and You are cruising easily at 50.

 

what an idiot. Deserves the sentence IMO.

 

I've yet to hit 100 on the G. Got to 90 once or twice, but going that fast is just not worth it.

Ouch.... that sux.... He wont get any simpathay on this forum, with all of the ppl here so against speeding. I think jail time is a little harsh, but i believe if ur gona do something wrong, dont cry wen you get caught. He shoulda thought about the conciquences before hand.

On the other hand i think we should revise some of the laws affecting driving. I think they give licences to idiots who should not have them. I think that it should be more difficult to get your licence like in Germany. Anyone could park a car, but could you really manuever your self away from a dangerous situation? There is no highway driving test... hell you dont even go over 15mph. How do they know if these people are suited to drive on the highways? I think old ppl should get tested again onces they reach like....60? and onces every 3 years after that. Maybe even make everone get re-tested every 5 yrs? The autobahn has lower death rate than many us highways, so maybe rasing the speed limit isnt such a bad thing like the article seems to believe. Dont get me wrong, some parts of the auto bahn do have speed limits. but they also have strict passing rules that everone abides by. I spent a month in europe this past summer, i enjoyed the drives! I just thought i would bring up another point of view .

 

over 120? I wouldn't stop espacially at night.
