Damn Scratch
Damn Scratch
Well, I guess it was a matter of when, not if, but I got a scratch. It's actualy a long scratch, about 2-3 feet on the left passenger side of my coup. I'm not sure if someone keyed my car, accidental, or a branch. Eitherway I'm pissed and worried.
What should I do? Can scrathes be buffed out? Should I be looking into repainting the part?
I was thkining of taking it to a body shop and ask then if they can wet sand it or buff it out. Any suggestions would be greatly appreaciated.

sounds like it got keyed. dealers have mobile painters that come in so talk to your insurance agent about the comprehensive coverage and get an estimate
from the dealer.
it should only take a couple of hours to fix.
if the scratch did not penetrage the paint itself you can buff it out using
Meguiar's ScratchX.

I had my hood repainted, and the day after I picked it up one of my drunk friends slid across the hood leaving lotssss of scratches, i went to a local carwash, and they buffed it out like new
, the guy there told me that as long as the scratch dsnt catch your nail it can be buffed out.
hope this helps.

I can definitly FEEL the scratch as I move my fingers over it. So I guess I cant't buff if out.
Eitherway, I'll take it to a detail shop and see what they say. My insurance has 250$ deduct so I guess as a last resort I can use my insurance (or maybe just leave the damn scratch on to show character...)
