This clicking noise is referring to the rear axle. Putting in more oil would not help. You put in only 3 quarts? You do know the car takes in 5 qts. This car is also known to burn oil.

I had that problem twice. Each time after 8K was put on the rear axel. Infiniti fixed it for free both times. Since I've put 17K on the car and no clicking noise.
