gas hard to pump, keeps clicking off

so i take my car in to the dealer cuz whenever i try to put gas in, the trigger clicks like a million times and it's frustrating, but it only does it at certain times and it's few and far between. i know there's a TSB for it so i took it in and the service guy was like, yeah, that happens. this is the 2nd time i took it in. the first time, i ran the tank almost dry cuz i figured they would have to open the tank up anyways. they call me and say i need to fill up the tank...so i just took the car back and forgot about it. yesterday, i took it in again for other problems with almost a full tank. now the service guy is telling me i need to be a 1/4 tank full of gas for them to check...wtf?!?! i told the guy what he said last time and he said there must of been a miscommunication.

and he says it could be 2 things, the shutter valve or the fuel filler hose so they need to test it.

but anyways, my thing is...how are they gonna replicate the situation when it happens occassionally, and aren't they suppose to fix it if it's a TSB and i request it?

Sounds like it's time to find another dealer.

My car started to do a similar thing. I mentioned it at the dealers last week, they ordered a shutter valve for it. They called yesterday and it is in, they said when I get a chance bring it in with less than a quarter tank and they would replace it (I just have to find the time to take it there and hope this will fix the problem).

Same problem here, but it doesn't bother me that much. It only happens when I let stop the pump and then try to start pumping again. I just let it fill all the way up or to a certain $ amount and then stop.

Do a search as this has been discussed many a time.

Theres a TSB out for this and they should replace the shutter valve like GEE35X said. heres the link http://www.infinitihelp.com/Ownershi.../ITB05-031.htm

Just bring that in and show it to your service manager and say you want it done. No need to try and duplicate problem or anything like that since its a TSB.

No, they just took my word for it, and ordered the part.

alright..thanks guys. i guess i'll just have to take the car back after i use up the gas. and then if they give me a hard time, i'll have to shove the TSB in their face nicely.

yeah i have the same problem too. Stupid dealer tried to replicate the problem but they said it filled right up so they didnt cahnge it and to bring it back if i had problems again. Man i'm just gonna goto anoterh dealer and have them do the TSB. Like yours, the cicking problem only happens every so oftern, esp if i stop and try to pump again. It sucks, i have an 06 and thye havent fixed the problem yet.

My car is back at the dealer today for the 4th time regarding this problem. It started after they did the fuel hose recall. I then noitced that I could not fill the tank, it would click off. They replaced shutter valve. Next I noticed my gas guage was reading half a tank when I really was down to 2 gallons (verified by 18 gallon fill up). They then resecured the gas sending unit. After that, I appear to be having both problems, gas pump clicking off and gas gauage only reading 3/4 full at most.
At the dealer today, the service tech went to the gas station with me. My guage read 1/4 tank and the pump clicked off after only 8 gallons! He said, OH!! It probably is the sending unit and shutter valve (again).
I'll let you know what happens after I get my car back for a few days.
This is a ridiculous problem to have. Plus the car smells of gas for days after they do any work on the gas tank.

I called them today to let them know that it will be coming back. I'm sure they are not looking forward to seeing me again. I think I'll go for the M45 this time for a loaner.

I had the Fuel Shutter Valve replaced on my car after having had it for 1 month per a TSB.
