6MT replacement poll

I was just looking to see of those of us with a 6MT, how many have had a new transmission(s)? If so, what was the mileage when it was replaced?

My new one is on order ...this will be my second.

Fluid changed at 30K and still going strong at 42K. No clutch problems either.

Thankfully, I got Infiniti to confirm the problem with my synchos before the warranty was up. Car was at 59,5XX miles earlier this week when they ordered the new tranny. As such, I do not have any expense in replacing the transmission but I will be replacing the clutch while the transmission is out of the car. Best guess on that is around $300-400. New transmission should be here within a week or two.

Tranny itself is strong. The synchros are week, "quick shifts" wear the syncs. much faster. It usually is the 2nd and 3rd syncs because of the habit of grabbing 2nd and 3rd gears hard. Thats the reason we have manuals though.

I'm on #2. The 1-2 synchro and the 5-6 synchro both went out around 45k.

Not a problem..since the tranny is the same in both coupe and sedan, it is more about the tranny not the number of doors.

Thanks for the heads up on the thread you had. I didn't catch it when I did a search.

I had to complain to my dealer at least 3 seperate times over the last year before they agreed that the synchos were bad. Up to that point, they came back with the 'could not duplicate' line. Upon agreeing to replace, the service advisor acknowledged to me that the synchos were a 'known' problem with the 6MT.

25K no major problems yet knock on wood, but I'll have the dealer check on the tranny because shifting into 2nd is sometimes difficult (well it doesn't engage in smoothly)
