There is most definitely an 04.5.

Your sedan is 04.5 if the VIN is in this range: E~4M600001 or F~4M700001 and on.
For coupes, it's VIN 800001 and on.

These all refer to the last 6 digits, but i guess the sedans have either E's or F's in their VIN id, so you have to reference it in addition to the last 6 digits

hope this helps.

btw, if this is the case, i.e. if oyu have an 04.5, then you do have a separate version of the shop manual if you ever think of downloading it.

If you have a 5AT and if your shift **** looks like my picture below (newer style shift **** with the aluminum middle strip and button in the front instead of on the side), the 5AT in MM mode will always automatically shift down to 1st gear when slowing to a red light or a stop (and it always displays "1" from a dead stop even if you don't physically downshift all the way to 1st - it will do it for you) - i.e. this way, you always start out in true MM shifting from 1st gear, then you have an '04.5...these updates were done around Jan. or Feb., '04 production and your car would be considered an '04.5 (b/c the early '04's had production dates of around Oct., '03 - Dec., '03 or so and didn't have these updates). I have these updates; older '04's have the old style 5AT shift **** (with the button on the side) and the MM mode doesn't work the same.

Thanks Bsgoren,

I actually have an 04.5 and recently bought an 01 and was wondering why my MM in the 01 does not display the downshift gears like in my 04.5 when coming to complete stop. Your post explained it all and has now put my mind at ease.

Actually, the ECU is different on the '04.5. If you have an '04 or earlier, the flash tuners out there don't support it. With an '04.5, you can reflash for more power, throttle position changes, etc.

As stated on UpRev's site:
v1.1 features are currently available for the 2004.5 - 2006 350z/G35 and 2005-2007 Titan. We are working to add support for 2003-2004 350Z/G35 and 2004 Titan as soon as we can.
