Unhappy Air Bag Light Flashing

My air bag light started to flash about 6 weeks ago. It happened while on a trip, so I brought it in to the dealer upon return. They diagnosed a faulty air bag, ordered the part and called me a week later to come in for the replacement. I did, they replaced it on a Tuesday and I went "on the road" again.

On Friday of the same week the light started to flash again. Once again,. I returned to the dealer, they diagnosed ANOTHER faulty airbag, reset the light and ordered a replacement. Well, they called that the replacement had arrived and I made an appointment for 3 days later but the light started to flash the day before I went back. I waited for the appointment (last Friday), they replaced the air bag for the second time and I made another appointment for today for my 30K mile service.

Unbelievably, the light started to flash AGAIN yesterday!! I brought her in today and complained. We'll see what they say.

Now my question. Has anyone else experienced this before? Maybe someone here knows of a fix that I can recommend to the dealer. Thanks in advance for any help.

The only airbag problem was when I started my car after disconnecting the side airbag. I was able to reset it and no problems since then

Get ahold of Infiniti. The dealership isn't getting your problem fixed for whatever reason.

It's not your job to find out what the problem is nor to fix it. It is theirs. It appears that they are not doing their job. It is not your job to keep bringing in your car to repair the same thing over and over and taking up your time not to mention the frustration you are probably going through.

You are the customer and paid for something that they can't seem to fix.

I bet the clock spring in the steering column is the problem.

This didn't happen on my G, but my son's GTI. They first thought it was the sensor. Several days after the sensor was replaced the airbag light was on again. They then replaced the part of the harness that plugs into the airbag/sensor. That fixed the problem. So... I know your car isn't a VW, but I would have them check the harness.

Thanks all. An update, the dealer SA called this afternoon and asked to keep the car for the weekend. Not so bad since I have an '06 G35X loaner, same model. Anyway, they said they ordered another part and should receive it Tuesday. I will report again once I get the car back. This morning the SA had said it might be the airbag controller but the actual part will be listed on the repair order.

Ya know, I thought about it but I believe that they are trying all they can to fix it. The SA was truly peeved when I called to say it was flashing again. So I'll give them another shot before I explore anything further. I also really like my car.

This happened to me. They said it was the left side "air bag module". Not sure if this is what they meant by replacing the "air bag". It got replaced and issue hasnt come back since then.

Good luck....3rd times a charm?

That's what they replaced twice already, so I hope whatever they are changing this time will be the charm.

My mom's G had the same thing happen. They replaced 3 different parts total. The 2nd time the G went in an engineer was at the dealer and told them the part that needed replaced. So when it went in for the 3rd time they put the part in and so far it's been fine. It's only been a couple weeks though. It really sucked because the dealer is an hours drive away but it did get some good highway miles on it.

OK, got the car back last night. So far, no light flashing but the acid test will ba after a week since it took that long for the light to start flashing again even without doing anything once the light was reset.
FYI, this time they changed the following:
Steer Combo Switch
Spiral Cable
I'll report again after a week or two.

How did you reset it? Just pull the negative battery cable for a while?

Well it's been a couple of weeks and the airbag light has not flashed yet. I think they resolved it! Another long trip this weekend. Hopefully no issues.
