Entered a Nissan Car Show and Placed 3rd!
I entered the 5th annual Capitol Z of Texas Statewide Auto Show and got 3rd place out of 9 sweet rides in my catagory. The catagory I entered in was the G2 Modified Other Nissan/Infiniti (1984 and newer) catagory. Above pic is the spoil. An Altima came in first and a MAX came in second. Had fun and met some great people to include Cato. I'll post more pics.

Mike,
I figured you would place 3rd. I was at this event and met
Mike (mbarrad). I can tell you, third place is pretty good
in the category Mike's car was in. I was there for the judging
of Mike's G35 sedan. These judges were looking basically
for cleanness. It figures Mike posted all the pics of the
supercharged 350Z. We kept on going back to drool over
it. It was great meeting Mike and had lots of fun at my
first auto show.

Re: Entered a Nissan Car Show and Placed 3rd!
Considering that this was a Nissan Z car event, placing with an Infinity was a great feeling. Bet the guy in the Max was a little disappointed getting beat by an Altima. The Max owner came off as a little cocky when I asked him about his mods. When a fellow Max owner drove up in his white car, he said "finally, some competition" (not under his breath either). Well some people need to be brought down a notch. I congratulated him anyway. I had alot of fun and we had great weather. I still can't imagine how they crammed the supercharger into such a small space and made it look so natural. Simply amazing! Cato, I'll come down to Houston next time and get you lunch at your car show. I know Houstonians have more Gs (or post more) than here in Austin. Are any of you guys entering in car shows? Need a good excuse to go on a long trip.

Now that we know what the judges are looking for in the cars,
(cleanliness) I think I might enter mine in a show. The judges
walked up to Mike's car and gave the engine the "white glove"
inspection. They were looking for ANY dirt or dust and giving
demerits for it. They do not even consider the modifications
you have made, just how clean it all looks. A dirty procharger
modified G35 sitting next to my clean modified G35 would
loose because of the dirt.

Re: Entered a Nissan Car Show and Placed 3rd!
The judging at our show is based upon guidelines set out by the ZCCA - see www.zcca.org . Modifications are in effect a factor of classing, rather than a quantifier of judging/points in the ZCCA format. This is unfortunate, but that is how the Judging Committee set up the guidelines. As a five-year ZCCA rep, and long-time ZCCA show organizer and participant in the modified classes, I strongly disagreed with this, and suggested several options, including retaining the former option we used to have of having up to six bonus points for each section at the judges' discretion for mods/presentation/etc. This all fell on deaf ears.
Meanwhile, having attended hundreds of car shows in my lifetime, and having organized, judged, shown, and spectated, I can tell you that cleanliness is indeed a HUGE factor at most shows. I have lost spots several times by a few points dues to not having cleaned as well as I could have, and I have seen this time and again at many shows. But, some shows (especially people's choice shows) are less stringent about cleanliness and more focused on presentation and unique modifications or 'the package'.
Anyway, congrats to Mike for a solid finish in a tough class. That was probably one of the toughest classes this year.

Re: Entered a Nissan Car Show and Placed 3rd!
Thanks Mike for the Kudos. I really didn't think I had a chance in hell of placing with the competition out there in my class. Next time I am going for the stock class......Nah! That would be too easy. I will enter again next year. Now that I know what the judges are looking for, I will be better prepared. Cato, you should enter too.
I noticed that someone was taking pictures of the trophy winners. Are the photos going to be posted somewhere on the CZOT site? News letter?
Let me know when you want to meet to check out my mods. Laters.
