Picked up new baby tonight!!!

I am the new leasee of the an 06 premium package sedan, and the first thought after driving off the lot in it, IS IT DUMB TO WANT TO BUY YOUR LEASE at the end of it? I am already thinking, tint, lowering, rims, intake, exhaust...I have never been SO in love with a car after one night. How it moves the seat and wheel for me to get out, sets my seat perfectly for me to get in and punch it :-), button on my mirror instead of fumbling for gate opener...man, I have not even had it one day and I am dead set on buying out my lease in 2 years.

2 quick questions though...

Several guys at the dealership said I can run regular, or 89 but don't need premiuim at all...I had a WRX which would knock and ping on anything but chevron 91 here in socal, so my question is, were they right?

Also, I believe that our engines run synthetic only, but when my dealer said 28 bucks for an oil change, I was thinking, that sounds real cheap for synthetic.

And lastly, in the finance room the lease finance guy was telling me, they are way harder on leases now, and to plan on several grand out of pocket at the end, and because I am doing a 2 year lease I will be required to put new tires on before I hand it in....almost left without a car, but called my parents who leased an M last year and they said the guy looked at it and said you guys are cool, it was like a 2 second thing, so, my question is should I be worried?

Thanks again for all the help on pickin out the car and for having lots of threads about gettig good pricing!

They were not right. Don't put any lower than 91 octane.

It doesn't run on synthetic oil thats why its so cheap, I would recomend to put synthetic in it after the first oil change.

Congrats on the car and enjoy.

Don't be too quick to put in synthetic. You should really wait until well after break-in. This is because there is considerable wear during the break-in period that is necessary for the rigs to seat properly. If you switch to synthetic, you reduce the wear that is supposed to occur and you end up with various problems associated with gases blowing past the rings and down into the oil.

first and foremost..congrats on ur car..u are gonna love it..

if u are plannin to mod it..u are plannin to keep it..

so, i suggest fianance

also, i wouldn't recommend putting nothing lower than 91..I jus wouldn't take the risk of putting anything lower..

that is quite cheap to put synthetic..I got quoted from infiniti last time of 80 bucks..other places was doing it for 60..

I end up..buying all the materials and have a guy do it for 10 -15 bucks..I save roughly about 10 - 15 bucks..

yeah, my residual is a little high to keep my payments lower in the lease, but I figure I will just finance for 3 years at the end and make it the same as if I would have gone 5 years. 91 for sure, no problem, done. Can you guys tell a difference by running synthetic or is dino oil okay?

congrats on the new ride. Thought you were going to finance at 2.95%, what changed your mind? Since you have a lease "sticking it to you at the end" is all just part of the contract you signed. I've never seen a dealer just pass on the details written into a contract, so expect a good chunk of change owed to Mother Infiniti for her pleasure in owning your car while she lets you drive it. Also with a lease you might as well keep it as bone stock as possible, or be willing to bring it back to stock before the end of the lease, as there is no telling what decision you might make in 2 years (the 07+ model looks nice...).

PS 91 octane all the way. If you fill up once a week at 20 gallons (to make the math simple), typical $.10 difference between 89 and 91 that is $2 a week and $208 a year vs potential engine damage using lower grade gasoline...so why take the chance

But ultimately if they decide to really stick it to me, keeping the car may be a better option than paying them off to trade it in. My salesman said tint was fine though as long as it isn't illegal (no front windows), is that u guys' experience as well?

let's make the picture even better. $2/week = $104/year

It's funny how my math gets skewed while I am typing things at work...

+1 on everything always stated, I never put in less than 92.

Also there are people who mod on leased vehicles and return to stock before the turn in, this way if you get new rims and tires you can put your old tires back on before lease return. However that is kinda ridiculous on just a 2 year lease, if you are going to keep the car then mod but if not, it's probably not worth it for just 2 years.

Do a Syn/Dyno oil search. We had a pretty good debate going about when it's safe to go to synthetic. Don't forget Vettes come direct from the dealer with Synthetic....no 15K break in. Just sayin......

I believed Benz, Viper and other high performance cars come direct from the factory with synthetic too. I asked the tech guy at Infiniti and my uncle that worked on car for 20 years said it ok to put synthetic in the first oilchange after 4k.
