Hey guys I just bought my 1st G35 Sedan. 2006 Twilight Blue Premium Package with Sport Rims. When I was filling out the last of the papers they asked if I wanted to purchase the stain/scratch protection plan for $795. Basically they treat the interior with stain protecter and treat the exterior with some type of sealant that will help protect against paint fading and scratching. All I would have to do is bring the car in if my leather or carpet were to get stained and they would clean it for 3 years. Same for the paint.
It's $495 if I get the treatments seperate or $795 for both. I want to say she said it was called "environmental" protection.
Anyway did anyone pay extra for this? What is it exactly?
I have wheat interior so I'm really worried about staining the leather and carpet. Can't I just treat it myself? Any ideas what I would use?
TIA

I wouldn't pay for it. Sounds like a way for them to make some extra cash. I don't know any sealent that's going to do protect your paint better than something like Zaino or other sealent. As far as leather, there are quite a few good cleaners/conditioners. I don;t know of a leather stain protection, but if the dealer has it I'm sure you could purchase it online.

I say no. My wife had has her interior clean by a detailer twice and theyn only charged 30 bux each tie and they got out some god awful stains. We have two kids so you know it has seen some ish.
Also inregards to the paint I would figure that would be covered under the body warranty. Don't they clearcoat these things well enough to protect agaist enviromental conditions.
Sounds like a markup or bill of goods.
BTW... Welcome to Driver and congrats on the purchase.
Save the money for some killer mods you will be happy you did.

wait so if you get a scratch in your paint within 3 years they will repair that? If that's the case then it may be worth it, otherwise forget it.

Can you say "R I P - O F F"!!!!!
Give me $650 and I'll personally make sure the stains are gone for three years.
As long as you wipe off bird **** and other stuff that can stain the exterior you'll be okay there... I didn’t read that they will repair scratches or chips so theres no deal in that respect... As far as interior - I guess the leather could get stained, but I have black so it’s not an issue - but I don’t let anything that could stain get on the seats anyway.
So that leaves the carpet - which is covered with carpeted mats... that costs less than their price to buy much less professionally clean.

Don't dealers understand this is the exact type of thing that will destroy the customer relationship? You negotiate a final price and then as you are doing the paperwork they try and sell you a bunch of crap you don't need. I was pretty impressed that my dealer didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need, except wheel insurance, which I passed on. If they want a repeat buyer, sticking you with an additional $795 is not the way to do it.
I doubt the stain/scratch protection offers any repairs if the paint or leather gets damaged. That probably falls under the acts of God, misuse, abuse clauses. It's my understanding these are just special treatments/coating and nothing more. It beats the hell out of me how a "sealant" is suppose to adhere to a glass smooth new clear coat finish.
Paints these days don't fade assuming you wash/wax the car everyone once and a while. As for scratches, I don't see a sealant protecting anything. Fine clear coat scratches will happen and they're really easy to buff out, but once it goes deep enough to catch your finger nail then it's time for touch up.
As for the interior, buy some OEM rubber floor mats and run them all year round. Tint the windows to keep the interior cooler and keep the interior from fadding. Wipe down the seats with mild soapy water once a month to remove dirt and then apply a conditioner to the leather every 2 months or so. Don't throw sharp object on the seats, keep the food/drinks to a minimum, and keep pens/knives out of the interior and you'll be fine.

That's really pricey. I got offered a similar package when I bought my car last year. It was something like $500 for rust protection, interior conditioning, diamond gloss, aquapel... and all that is renewed yearly for the lifetime of ownership. And except for the yearly application of aquapel, "renewal" really means touch it up only if they think it's needed.
The diamond gloss doesn't do as good a job protecting the paint... regular care and waxings are better. The aquapel is nice though... not as good as RainX but I've found that it lasts the whole year. As for the other stuff, I haven't really noticed/heard anything.
