Re: Rear Bumper Repair

A similar thing happened to one of my parents cars. The body shop I took it to was able to heat and meld it back together. Then they just repainted it and you could never tell it was damaged. It would be a cheaper alternative to getting a new bumper cover and you insurance would never need to know

Re: Rear Bumper Repair

Just ignore it. Today you get it fixed and sometime in the future it will get another place dented. It is always the case, no matter how careful you are it will happen.

You've got to be kidding me. You obviously don't give a rats azz about your g then. I would fix the smallest scratch or chip, but then again that's just me.

Yeah, I'm still crying about the small dent I
put on My G while in the garage. Figure it will
cost at least $200 to fix. So I'm waiting for
some unforseen reason to take it to the body shop. I hate looking
at the damage I did myself. Bad Bad Bad!

Re: Rear Bumper Repair

I'm getting my rear bumper replaced tomorrow. Exact cost is $757.48 including painting, installation and tax. Parts include $126.46 for the stryrofoam absorbers that go behind the bumper which you probably won't need and $245.53 for the bumper cover itself. This is per my estimate from the body shop owned by the dealer group which includes my Infiniti dealer.

Re: Rear Bumper Repair

You don't have to replace the bumper. I had a cut in my bumper about 1.5 inches long, and I had it fixed by a bumper repair person. It was only about $225. Looks like new.

Re: Rear Bumper Repair

BOY, talk about timing! I just left (today, this morning)a Allstate Claims adjuster with a similar problem to my bumper. My G was bumped at a stoplight, nothing really bad but noticeable since the bumper was immaculate b4. I have about 3 scratches, one more prominent than the other located about 6 inches below yours. The Claims adjuster told me the rear bumper cover lists for $245.00. I was issued a check for $317 to repair it. Infiniti gave me a rough estimate of $500.
Well my 2cents Good luck.

Re: Rear Bumper Repair

Dont' feel too bad. It happens to all of us. Here's my favorite one:

I was rebuilding and restoring a one-owner '65 Mustang convertible, and just got it back from the painter. I was reassembling the car and was using a clamp to affix the rear trunk lid seal while the adhesive dried. Well, for some odd reason, immediately after I was satisfied with the clamp location, I lowered the decklid to check the top pad and the clamp shaft hit the tailight housing creating two giant chips in the paint. I was about an inch from hanging myself right there in the shop. I wouldn't even have had to leave a note.
