From my own and my brothers experiences of renting cars, I would never buy a rental. Oh do those cars get abused!

Yeah--when you buy a G from an individual it has NEVER been abused. No one ever redlines, bumps the rev-limiter, grinds gears on miss-shifts, tops it out on the freeway over 140+mph, slamming the brakes, doing donuts in dry and wet surfaces, autocrossing, drifting, drag-racing on street and track, damaging car in parking lots, accidentally curbing wheels and basically treating it like a rental--but its supposed to be better because you lovingly throw on some clay bar and 12 coats of zaino wax and its good as new and post a new thread of "look at my newly zainoed G One need only read the threads on this forum--So I was doing 148 mph on the 405 last night(4am so only a couple of cars out) and I smelled something funny coming from the ac vents--is that normal?
I keep hitting the rev-limiter all the time---will that hurt anything?
I modded my engine and the engine blew and the dealer says its my mods and won't fix--what do I do?
If you plan on selling the car with in 5 yrs screw the transmission fluid and rear diff. fluid change. If you plan on keeping car for 10 yrs--then do it on and on and on

The miles are not that high(even though they may have been hard) and NOT everyone that rents a car is immature and abuses it---ie doing a neutral rev and slam into drive and all that--they may just open it up to see what it can do a few times, merge into traffic fast, a few redlight races---that is basically what individual owners do anyway.

I say, get it inspected by a professional, get the dealer service records and check through them, carfax, and buy an extended warranty before the original one expires. I say if all this checks out, go for it.

being a rental should not affect your warranty--but double ck with infiniti dealer, I doubt you will regret your decision. Especially when you consider the long warranty you have before you have to consider purchasing an extended warranty. I think you will be fine.

I don't need a car right now. But thanks for the suggestion. I guess you're saying I would not take my own advice?? If it all checks out and has low miles and non-smoker, no accidents and such I would.

And I wouldn't buy your car b/c you race FI aleros LOL

No rentals or loaners. I know what I have done to some of those in the past.

The only rental I've ever purchased had some engine problems, but that was a known issue with the engine, so I can't really blame it on being a rental.

No rentals, loaners, or cars coming off a lease. I don't usually get loaners, but as everyone has said, rentals, etc are usually abused. I, for one, read up about the seats causing numbness to some people's legs. So, before I went out and bought my G, I decided to rent a G35 for a day to see if the seats would be a problem for me. I wouldn't call it abuse, but I definitely wanted to see what the G rental could do. It was fun! I returned it in one day with 250 extra miles on the odometer

Same issue with loaners

When I had my car in for the 15K service, I ended up putting 191 miles on the loaner that day.

I definitely wouldn't. One time on a business trip my friend rented a PT Cruiser and he tortured that car to no end. His "claim to fame" would be to race down a deserted road and then e-brake it into 180's, 360's, etc. He would always be driving the car and e-braking at full speed to try and scare people walking down the road. A couple of times I had to get him to stop because I myself was getting concerned he was going to e-brake us into a ditch.
