Lowering and intake
I emailed local g35 shop, i asked how much would it cost to lower my car and to put a cold air intake.
This was the reply;
"Lowering the sedan seems to be more work than the SC or the Z
Usually we have to fit the car with adjustable camber arms
The cost goes up quite a bit when these items are used .
Camber arms $750.00 range
Springs $330.00
Labor $400.00 Includes arms and springs
Alignment services $225.00
Cold air only one choice : JWT pop charger and Z tube
Parts and labor $320.00
Please let me know if we can help
Thanks
Rob"
Is this right?
just wanting to make sure...
Thank you

Seems high- Not sure why the alignment and services cost is so high.
I think the camber arms a good option, not required. You'll wear a bit on the inside the front wheels with the standard setup, the aftermarket adjustable suspension arms would help to eliminate that.
What type of shocks/dampers are they putting in there? What type of springs are they offering?
The labor cost doesn't sound too bad. However, they jack you on the alignment, though I suppose the camber adjustments might be a pain in the a$$ on the aftermarket upper suspension pieces.
Wouldn't lower a car without installing new higher quality shocks as well, especially if I'm going so far as to install aftermarket a arms-
The CAI sounds like a rip all around. At least it sounds different, and pretty cool on the rev-up motors. Honestly though, look at the design of the G35's intake- Install a Z tube and K&N and you have a decent setup. And it's pretty much oem.

go somewhere else. depending on how low you drop the car, you might not need the camber kit. as far as the intake, it can be time consuming if you go cai as you need to go thru the wheel well or remove the front bumper. if you stick with a ram air intake, you should have no problems doing it with just your hood up.

if you're installing a RAM air intake (such as JWT pop-charger and Z-tube - or Weapon-R Secret Weapon) - you can do it yourself in about 20 minutes.
as far as lowering goes, it depends on how much you're lowering. if you lower by, say, half an inch, there is practically no need for camber arms (unless you have very wide aftermarket wheels/tires). but if you slam your car, you better do camber, or you'll be going through a set of tires monthly.

generally speaking, Z Car Garage is awesome, and Rob will always give you options on the best thing to do. you do have to excersise your brain to decide if that's what you want or not. and if you're doing a drop, better to do it right on the first try - with camber arms, and getting alignment. otherwise you'll pay more in tires than your car's worth.

$400 for springs? WTF? I can change out the rear springs in 30 minutes and that's including jacking up the car and removing the wheels. Changing the fronts takes 30 minutes per side with hand tools. I could install camber arms (which aren't needed for 350Z springs) in 2 minutes per side with I were changing out the spring at the same time.
$225 for an alignment? WTF? A four wheel alignment at a DEALERSHIP costs $90-120.
I really need to open up my own shop installing just suspension, intakes, and exhausts. I can't believe there are people that pay these prices.
