I have noticed that on some G35's the trunk lid has a square piece with the logo in it. Mine has the clean back with Infiniti stretched across it. When did they make this change?

The "doggie door" trunk was eliminated for the 2003.5 sedans. Two people at my work have these old designs. I like mine better.

Shodog, I believe the change happened late last August/early fall of 2002. With a few other changes Infiniti called this 'new' style 2003.5 .
I had the original "doggie door" style and liked it. The newer style is nice too, altho with it you lose the outside trunk release and gain an inside one like the Coupe.

I personally like the new design as it looks sleaker to my eyes.

The new one makes a G look like a Corolla...

i like both trunk styles, but i like having an outside trunk release better. if the release wasn't there, i'd be slightly annoyed at someone fiddling at my trunk and yelling "hey how do you open this thing?"

Actually, Infiniti never called it a 2003.5. Just owners to differentiate between the two. It is still a 2003, but in books like the black book, they are called a different body number. Just FYI

I guess I've got the old style. I like both, but if it be up to me, I'd prefer the new one. But I'm stuck with the old...oh well. My car still kicks ***. heheheheh.
