30,000 mile maintenance
Same deal here. I just got quoted $700+ for the 30k service on my 2005 sedan by Infiniti of Oakland. Freaking $700 to change fluids? Unreal. I may never visit that dealership again, unless its to nit-pick every damn warranty item I can think of.
I was quoted $629 + taxes for 30k miles service by pleasanton infiniti.....when i went through their brochure, i found out the only meanigful things they do are changing oil+filter (that also just semi-synthetic) and flushing coolant and transmission fluid. Others is just checking this checking that......how hard it is to check hoses, wipers, horn, hinges yourself if it saves you 500 bucks.....
i got oil changed from a local shop for 25 bucks (synthetic).... now looking for someone to do my transmission and coolant flush...shouldnt go over 100 bucks....
Anybody know of any good local shop to get coolant an tranny flushed in bay area??

Hey everyone, I'm also looking to get my 30k maintenance done and I'm in NJ. Does anyone have any good experiences at a particular dealership?
Also, I didn't have my regular 15k service done at the time, only a regular oil change b/c the guy seemed as if he was just making stuff up and was asking for like $250 when I was down in FL.
This is what my service receipt says
Change engine oil and filter
Inspect and top off all fluids
Inspect tires and adjust pressure
Inspect drive shaft boots and suspension
Replaced incabin microfilter and air filter done
Thats about it, with oil changes regularly done at every 3k. Should I be looking out for something else that needs to get done?
Thanks for the help as always...

Ok, I also spent an hour reading all this and wanted to make a few comments.
1) I do not nearly have the knowledge/experience with cars that most of the guys that post on here have...however, I do have common sense.
2) "ModFriendly" guy works for a dealership so his views are going to be a bit bias. Common sense tells you that a service advisor is there to make as much money as possible because most if not all get paid off the bottom line of ALL the money that comes into the service department for that month. So to act like some service advisors will only "recommend" certain inspections/replacement only if it is needed is naive. EVERY service advisor will "recommend" things that he shouldn't be "recommending" only to see if you'll bite. Either because you're scared or because you trust him....funny.
3) Why doesn't anyone go to a non-Infiniti shop to get maintanence done? Your chances of getting a good mechanic at an Infiniti dealership are a crapshoot anyway. There are good mechanics there. But there are also good mechanics at reputable shops that will not charge $500-$700 for a 30k service
4) Believing that a service advisor is not there to make money is like believing in the tooth fairy and that a car salesman is looking out for your best interest.
5) It sucks that many of us on here have a love affair with our G35's but cant trust anyone at the dealership...from the salesman, to the service department, to their customer service department, etc.

I am at 32k miles right now and didn't bother going in for the 30k service....most of it is either BS or is being changed way too early. Sure, you need to do some of those items, but it is nothing that is so complicated you can't do it yourself. Otherwise, take it to an independant shop for $150 and have them do it. A lot of the things on that list I will get to when they are in need of change. I parallel DaveB's thoughts on when things need to be changed.

I feel sorry for everyone that thinks they NEED to take their G to the dealership to have the 15, 30, 45, 60... services done. If you really look at what is being done for $800 they are changing a few fluids and inspecting everything else. Most of us can get by with Schedule 2 maintenance, which is mostly inspections. Change the necessary fluids and save yourself $500 people!!!
Infiniti of Tustin quoted me $535 for 30k service. The main stuff was drain and fill tranny and oil change and air filter. Rest was just checking misc stuff like fluids, tires, lights etc...
I just bought the tranny fluid and air filter from them, went to walmart and got a 5 quart jug of mobile 1 for 20 bucks, got a mobile 1 oil filter and redline racing diff fluid. Had my mechanic change all of it for $40 and got a reciept for the work done.

And am about to shell out $ 628 !!! F-ing Bucks for 30k servicing on a 04 Coupe @ Sheehy Infiniti of Annapolis,md. (after a stupid 10% discount)
Do you have an automatic? that may be why the price was so high. I'd take it to Annapolis Goodyear on Defense Highway (near Best Buy and all that). I've been going there for years without a problem. These days, I do my own work and take it to them where they can perform those "inspections" for warranty purposes. It's a good way to save money and still make the records-keepers happy.

I concur, Dave B for president!!!!
