Thumbs up

i will be having my 30k service soon. i am on a lease and i will be paying for the service b/c i may keep my sedan in (not expecting them to pay) we'll see....bought a few oem oil filters w gasket and im thinkin of purchasing new in cabin filter myself to reduce dealer cost. although the dealerships do seem helpful at times but it seems like what they say they do and what they actually do are somewhere along the lines of how the mechanic workin on your car is feeling. thats the vibe i get anyway.

I was going to do the optional AT flush, but found out today that the dealership doesn't have the equipment. So just the fluid change. Also, probably the fuel line recall.

I did. Said to replace differential fluid, AT fluid, rotate tires (almost 30K on factory EL42s so far with over 1/2 tread used, probably more because you don't want completely bald tires), etc.

I just had my 30k done last weekend in MD. Cost me a grand total of $597. I was totally ripped on labor. On top of that they rotated my 225 & 245's so that the 245's were in the front. When I noticed this they told me their service dept was closed for the day and wouldn't be able to correct it until Monday. They let me keep the loaner for a few days... which ended up getting towed and costing me another $150.

Why would it cost you if it got towed, unless it was towed because you parked in an area you weren't supposed to park?

Yeah it was my fault. It's not like I was expecting the dealership to pay for it.

Too bad that my dealer doesn't give a choice of cars for loaners. I can understand that it could cause problems, such as if the only loaner available was a manual, and the person needing it didn't know how to drive it. On the other hand, it could give someone an opportunity to try a different car with less pressure than asking for a test drive.

For instance, I would like to see how the 6MT drives. However, since I've done very little driving with a manual over the last 15 years, I didn't consider a manual when I bought it. Now, though, I would like to see how it drives, and whether I would consider it when I get around to replacing my current car.

You dont do timing belt at 30k. At my dealer here at 30k per the owners manual what we do is
Perform oil change
Rotate and balance tires (rotate if applicable)
Reset tire pressure sensors
Replace air filter
Replace in cabin micro filters
Replace radiator cap
Perform coolant service
Perform transmission service
Replace drive belts
Replace differential fluid (synthetic fluid and modifier included)
Replace wiper inserts
Flush fuel injectors and clean throtle body
Top off all fluids
Clean and adjust parking brake
Add engine service kit (minor oil flush)
Reset air idle strategy and adjust timing

The grand total here at our dealer for the full service is $807.96. The optional 30k service if you are keeping includes
Perform oil change
Replace air filter
Replace in cabin filter
Replace wiper inserts
Rotate tires (if applicable)
Install fuel additive (cleaner in tank)
Install engine service kit (minor engine flush)
Top off all fluids
The price for that service is $252.80. But thats coming straight from the owners manual at our dealer. As long as you do your air filter, diff fluid, trans and coolant you are good to go. If you are getting charged for a fuel filter then dont even bother staying there cuase the g's dont have filters. The last cars infiniti made with fuel filters were the I30s and the j30s. The newer cars call for different services. But again thats the dealership price, not everyone can afford to pay the price for it but for the most cars most customers that come in here do the premium service if they are keeping the cars. But if you are near the gentleman who will do your maintance for you, in all honesty its not hard at all and Im similar to him in doing services for friends at the house in my garage, I would go that route if you are trying to save a few bucks.

How can someone mess that up?? Which dealer?

Got new front brake pads last week. Asked for an oil change w/ Mobil 1 while I was there. I usually take it to a local garage, but I was already there. They finished the brakes and forgot to do the oil change. Then, when they did the oil change, they didn't use synthetic. I made them take it back and do it again.
