Question 1200 break-in oil change???

Quick question that I can't seem to find an answer to on the boards:

I am almost at 1200 mi on my 6MT 2006 sedan. Should I do an oil change before I start driving normally or just wait to 3750?

I always do my first oil change at 1200 miles... You don't have to do tho, 3000 miles works to... I just prefer doing it at 1200 tho.. helps me sleep better at night

True... funny thing is that all the dealers in the area that I called say it's not necessary until 3750. I'd sleep better too!

just keep in mind there are small metal particles that are polishing the inside of your engine... maybe at 2500 or so... I waited it out to 3k after speaking with numerous people who work in the automotive industry. Just don't drive it hard quite yet.. I know it's hard to refuse but after you get that initial change you can open her up a bit.

I did mine at 1200 and many do, but it's not necessary.

I did mine at about 1400. I figured that it was a $25 well spent for piece of mind, since this was my first new car.

I got it done for free. My 3750 oil change is going to be free as well. The stealership should hook you up.
As long as you tell them you're breaking the engine in and are following recommended procedures, they should hook you up knowing you're taking care of their car.
I got my oil change done at 1220 and ran her extremely hard at 1700 miles. Car is running stronger than ever now. I'll be going in for my 3,750 soon.

Good to know. I'll schedule something soon. Hopefully my V1 will come in before the oil change!

The local Nissan dealership accross the street from work was having a special for oil changes for $23+tax. It is now $30.
