Well, I'm getting the Gen1 exhaust used and pretty much 50% off of retail so I will still go with the Gen1 and take my chances. If nothing else I can take it off, sell it and get a Gen2 or modify the Gen1 with an inline resonator.

I have the Gen II. There "was" a definite drone under any load on the highway and it is "very" loud. I replaced the resonators with a couple of seamless mufflers. It reduced the overall sound volume and eliminated the drone completely. Yes, it may have cost me an HP or two, but the wife doesn't complain anymore. It still sounds awesome.

Can you please tell me which seamless mufflers you used? And I am like you, I don't care if I lose a few HP. I'm really only doing this for the sound anyway. If I pick up a few HP in the process, that's cool too.

I have had my stillen gen 1 for 2 years and 45,000 miles and I am still absolutly in love with the sound of it. It sounds sooooooo good, and turns many many heads. Its not the slightest bit ricey in any aspect. Locally alot of people cruize on a certain stretch of road on friday and saturday nights, and people hang out on the side and watch people go by. I love it when I pull out of some where or go from a light and shift around 4 grand, every one on the side turns there heads and are like what the F*ck was that. I have had more than enough complements on how mean and awesome it sounds. There is a350z locally that has an ingen exhaust and it sounds like Sh*t compared to my car.

I will break down the sound in writing for you.

Below 2 grand it has that nice v8 rumble, and burble, at 2-3 grand it sounds just like the g35 coupe turing 3-4,000 rpms only much louder, and at 3grand and up its has this over powering exotic sounding v12 sound to it that is so sweet in every way.

When I first got the exhaust I went to car show and had a guy following me in a Z06 out of the show trying to figure out what type of exhaust that is, and that he complemented that my car is the best sounding import that he had ever heard. Last week I had a guy in an orange Gallardo say my car sounds awesome.

Just get it...

That was exactly the type of review I was searching for... THANK YOU.

So now what about the resonance?

I've had mine for a while now, and the droning isn't that bad even with the windows up AC on and no radio. It's very bearable its louder than stock, but sounds GOOD! Windows down may become your new favorite though and as someone above said it turns heads and I get compliments all the time, a M3 driver said it sounded like a BMW to him :-)

I love my Stillen Gen 1. I've had it on for 30K+ and two years or thereabouts. I never get tired of the sound. It kicks major a$$ at anything over 3K RPM. Below that there can be a little drone. Just shift manually and you can avoid the drone zone for the most part. At highway speeds I would say it's not annoying. Road noise is more of a factor. I really would miss it if my car was stock. The sound is that intoxicating to me.

stop saying all this... NOW i miss my stillen

I would recommend anyone to get the stillen TD, regardless of Gen1 or Gen2; as long as your ride is not a mama ride =) then you would be fine with the drone

The muffler place just grabed what they had in stock. I'm not sure of the manufacturer, but what I was looking for was something that would fit and not detract from the full body of the sound. The impression I am getting is that anything that will muffle a bit will do the trick.

For you guys who have good reviews of this exhaust, do any of you have HFC or test pipes? I want to know how much louder the exhaust is with HFC/test pipes, compared to having the stock cats.

Trey, I guess this question is intended for you since your sig shows that you have HFC with the stillen exhaust.

I have gen 1 for almost 2 years... bottom line - you get use to it. The rasp and drone mellows a bit after about 3 weeks... If you are concerned about in cabin noise you might want to consider Dynamat or B-Quite installed in the trunk and possibly behind back seat.

Okay, I just got word that the guy I am buying the exhaust from will be taking it off his car next week.

So it has several thousand miles on it so it should be well broken in.
